The struggles of the Mac Prolong wear concealer pump – How to avoid wasting product

Being a makeup addict I’ve realized that when I’m obsessed with a particular product I like to use every ounce of it and not leave any to waste; call it a pet peeve of mine. So any of you guys who share this can see how the packaging of Mac Prolong wear concealer is a makeup lover’s worst nightmare! I mean it always let’s out too much product an it’s not like you could screw the cap since they had that thing glued by NASA. Oh and storing it laying down only makes the product stuck on the side of the packaging. It’s just frustrating when a product you love VERY much frustrates you by the lousy packaging. So to save my sanity I found a way that’s made life easier and minimizes waste.

Step 1 –

Find a small empty jar. This could be something that use to hold gel eye liner, a cream eye shadow etc. I personally used a Maybelline colour tattoo jar. It happened to be a shade I wasn’t too fond of so I emptied it so I could use to store the concealer. (Not throwing hate on the Maybelline colour tattoos, I love those things like they were my kids!) As long as you have a small jar or container that you’ll be able to close air tight, you don’t want the concealer to dry out and mine never has dried out.

Step 2 –

Pump however many pumps of the concealer you’d like in the jar. I personally never emptied all my mac pro long wear into the jar, I always put on average 5 pumps of the concealer, use it up which takes me about 3 weeks and then pump some more.

That’s it really, obviously when you close it make sure you properly close it. But I find it so easy to control exactly how much concealer I want to use without wasting anything. I’ve had my mac pro long wear over a year and I haven’t experienced any problems with it! It’s been so easy to use it and I’ve never had to deal with the frustrating pump.

Do you guys use Mac pro long wear concealer? Does the pump frustrate you? Feel free to vent in the comments below! See you guys in the next post.

Previous to owning MAC Pro-Long Wear, I kept hearing all the packaging woes. So when I went to purchase it, I made sure I got a MAC sample pot to dispense the product into – no wastage ever! Great tips for those who are having this issue, MAC should really consider changing the packaging!

I know right! I'm worried if they did eventually change the packaging somehow they would make less product in the new packaging, just a hunch of mine.

Haha love the Maybelline shadows too. This makes perfect sense! Then you can just keep going back into the pot.

This is so smart! I hate the pump (and the fact that it's glass! they need to repackage) but this is a great idea 🙂

I love this idea! I accidentally dropped mine on my bathroom tiles…the top shattered but the product was still good in the rest of the tube so emptied all of mine into an airtight jar and have never had to deal with that pump again! x
