Hey there beauty lovers!
Who doesn’t love a good ol’ review eh? Especially when it’s foundation related. I mean foundation is literally everything for me. If you don’t have a good base, everything else can fall apart quickly. So sit back and enjoy my organized rambles. Ps. I’m going to be doing A LOT of reviews, I mean there is just so many dang products I have to tell you about so there will be a butt load of reviews on the blog but I will break it up every now and then with a non-review post.
Coverage: I’d call this medium coverage. It’s buildable – not to full coverage but it is buildable so you can sheer it down to a light coverage or build it up to medium.
Skin types appropriate for this foundation: dry/dehydrated skin or normal would like it. I don’t feel like it would work for oiler skin types but then again I can’t be 100% my skin type is dehydrated/dry but it doesn’t have a matte finish and it’s very hydrating. Therefore I doubt it would last a decent amount of time for people who constantly need to blot their face and struggle with finding foundations that last a decent amount of time on their skin
Longevity: my skin type doesn’t give me too much trouble when it comes to foundations lasting on my skin. However for a very long day I tend to gravitate towards other foundations because I like the reassurance. The foundation does claim 16 hours wear, I don’t believe I’ve worn it that long to comment on whether it lasts 16 hours but longevity of this foundation didn’t catch my attention. It didn’t last ages but it also didn’t come off too quickly.
Application: This foundation is pretty versatile in terms of application. Whether your use a brush, sponge or your hands it will look absolutely fine. I do gravitate towards using my real techniques expert face brush or the real techniques buffing brush to apply it.
Formula: Hydrating. I always wear a primer underneath all my foundations as I find it helps them to apply better. Occasionally when my skin is giving me a lot of grief it can appear a bit powdery on my skin. But when my skin is being a B**** all the foundations I have, encompass the potential for that. It’s more my skins fault then the actually foundation. It’s not dewy but it’s not matte either somewhere in the middle. I have an oily t-zone so I do need to blot a few times during the day. It’s not super thin and runny though slightly runnier than your typically foundations. It feels very comfortable on the skin and not at all heavy! Blends quite easily as well.
Packaging: I’m pretty sure all Bourjois foundations have very similar if not exact packaging (I think!). It has a pump which for me is super important. It has a clear lid which can look messy when foundation stains it but other than that I have no complaints.
Who would love this foundation?: those who have more of a drier skin type, doesn’t want a butt load of coverage but something good for the everyday. Drugstore fans will appreciate it as it’s a reasonable price for a foundation
Who wouldn’t like this foundation: People who are looking for a full coverage and / or long wearing foundation, also oiler skin types. If you’re super-duper fair skinned shade range may not be on your side. This foundation does run a bit darker than the serum version.
Shade range: Shade range does run slightly darker than the serum version of this foundation.
Price: $32 AUD
Availability: Depending on where you live. Australians can get it from Priceline. Uk and US folks should be able to find it in any store that sells drugstore makeup. Asos does sell the brand as well.
Overall thoughts: This is a really good foundation. Having dry/dehydrated skin makes it different to find a foundation that doesn’t look cakey and disgusting your skin. It has a good enough coverage for the everyday, lasts a decent amount of time. I don’t have any complaints about it and definitely recommend you should check it out.
