The Beauty Favorites Edit | No. 3

Hey there beauty lovahs! We all love a good ol’ post where we discuss a bunch of beauty favorites don’t we? And since doing it on a monthly basis isn’t my cup of tea here we are for another installment of my current beauty favorites. I’ve done two of these so far (1, 2) click on the corresponding numbers if you want to check them out.
So sit back while I jump into things and begin my yapping on about beauty products. Woot woot!
Australis fresh and flawless powder
This is an OG makeup product for me. Any aussie beauty enthusiasts would have heard of this/own this. It’s your bog standard face power and it always drifts in and out of my beauty rotation. It’s the only pressed non-translucent face power I own. Strangely enough aside from using it to set my foundation I’ve been using it to set my concealer as well for a smidge of extra coverage. I have reviewed this powder, click here if you would like to see it.
Face of Australia face base primer 3 in 1 SPF
For a while I wasn’t happy in the primer department. Aside from my beloved Innoxa lift and firm primer, I wasn’t happy in the primer department. Nothing seemed to be good enough and you’ll see by this post that this is no longer the case. Being a drugstore makeup junkie I absolutely had to find some awesome primers in the drugstore if it killed me and that I did. This one is great for normal to dry skin. It doesn’t necessarily make your makeup survive a nuclear war but I find my foundation sits really well over it and it provides smoothness and a bit of hydration. It’s an aussies product, soz to you international peeps!
Real techniques contour brush
An oldie but a goodie. Aside from the fact that this makes an awesome contour brush, it applies highlighter on the cheekbones well, it blends out concealer amazingly! For so long I vowed that only one’s fingers could blend out concealer but after hearing about this brush as a method to blend out concealer from Lauren Curtis I had to try it. And she was right. It does such a good job to blend out concealer, set it with powder. You can definitely add that to the list of things this brush does really well.
Freedom makeup Pro 12 Le Fabuleux eye shadow palette
It’s no secret I’m obsessed with the brand makeup revolution. I mean it’s affordable even for aussies, the products are insanely good quality, shipping is quick and shipping fees are reasonable. Talk about a bloody miracle! So when I heard that makeup revolution were creating a sister brand known as Freedom makeup I vowed to try it out. I got this palette for Christmas and the quality is mind blowing. The pigmentation is so freaking good I get surprised each time I use it. The shades are awesome and you can go from an everyday eye shadow look to a full on look.
Face of Australia face base primer
Another primer and from face of Australia once again. It’s pretty similar to the other face of Australia primer, I can’t see a huge difference besides the fact that the previous primer has SPF I it probably what sets it apart. I like both though, once again this primer just allowed the foundation to go on more smoothly and it provides some hydration. Both are super affordable.
Physician’s formula translucent pearl highlighter
I have had my eyes on this for some time so when I finally got it I was quite giddy. It’s a monster of a highlighter by that I mean I reckon astronauts from space could see it. I wouldn’t say it’s best to wear it during the day since it’s INTENSE but so long as it’s not a sunny day you could pull it off. It’s only when the sun hits your face where this highlighter can look a bit overboard but it’s sahhhh good for the night and on cloudy non-sunny days.
Natio ageless illuminating primer
Another awesome primer! This one is on the illuminating side of things so I doubt people who are looking for shine control or have generally oiler skin types have would appreciate this. I love how it’s not too illuminating to the point where my face looks like a disco ball it gives your skin a healthy glow, allows for the foundation to sit well over it and hydrates your skin.
Makeup revolution the one foundation – shade 14
Before I even get into this no I don’t wear this as  foundation. As I have become more of a beach bum lately and I tan far too easily none of my foundations suit me shade wise, they are all far too pale for me. This product has saved my life. Not only do I mix all sorts of my foundations together both drugstore and high end, this product has really helped correct the shade so that my foundation fits me. Hurrah! Though I do miss the good ol’ pump straight from the bottle and apply. Life was by far simpler back then.
NYX Butter gloss – Tiramisu
Who doesn’t love the NYX butter glosses? This shade has been my go to recently, I wear it even when I am not wearing any other makeup at all. It’s a ‘my lips but better’ sort of color. Not only do I wear it on its own but when wearing makeup and I have a nude-ish lipstick I sometimes also apply this all over the top. It’s quite a versatile gloss and so comfortable on the lips. Click here to see a review of the butter glosses.
Freedom makeup contour brush
I have really been getting into the flat contour brushes lately; I have found so many incredibly affordable and good ones. This particular one I believe only comes with the freedom makeup contour kit, I have two of these because I bought the cream version and powdered version. It has synthetic hairs, the brush is dense so you can get a nice chiseled contour look and it works great with both powder and cream. I am quite a big fan of this.
Nivea sensitive post shave balm
Last but not least I thought I’d end the favorites post with a product I’m sure you are seeing ALL OVER the blogosphere. Yes this is a men’s after shave product, yes it makes a dreamy primer. If you are looking for superb shine control, oil control and a matte look this isn’t for you? But if you have normal to dry/dehydrated skin and you also want your makeup to last well this is for you! It works, it works well is all I can tell you! It’s affordable and it’s freaking amazing. I already got myself a backup.
So that wraps up the post peeps and peepettes. What have been your favorites lately? Tell me about them in the comments; any of them happen to be on this list? I love you guys and I hope you are having an awesome day wherever you are. I’ll see you guys in the next post.

I'm so intrigued by the Nivea after shave. For some reason I'm scared to put that on my face lol. I haven't tried most of these products so I am happy you brought them to my attention. I love the RT contour brush, I use it for powdering or, more often, highlighting.

It's great for priming uses. If you have overly sensitive skin it may cause irritation and if you have an oiler skin type you won't find it as effective.

I'm glad someone finally mentioned that the Nivea Post Shave balm as a primer is best suited for dry, normal skin, I've tried it and wasn't as impressed as everyone else and I have combination skin 🙂 x

I never use to like blending out concealer with a brush, that brush definitely converted me. Yes the after shave balm is brilliant but I do have dry / dehydrated skin so in terms of makeup longevity our skin type is lower maintenance for that.
