Maybelline Contour Duo

Hey there internet peeps! Being that I am a major hoarder of contour products, I figured why not tick one of them off the review list. Funny enough this was the very first contouring product I got and I was extremely pale when I first started using this. So this review is a bit of a throwback to a product that has been with me for a while.

So here we go!

Does it work for fair skin? Yes. This is the perfect intense contour for when you are pale but want a seriously chiseled look. Usually when you’re pale at best the only contouring product you can work with only gives you a natural option. This you can apply a bit to get a natural look or keeping going and get a very structured effect.

The highlighters: It’s natural and pretty, also great for an eye shadow if you don’t want to have bare lids. If you want a highlight than can be seen from google maps though you would find this highlighter too natural.

Is it blendable? It’s very blendable. It’s not chalky, not difficult to work with in any way so if you are new to contouring this will be great to get you started.

Is it easy to use? Yes it is, great for contouring beginners. And it’s affordable so you don’t have to spend a lot of dough when you don’t know how to contour yet. The fact that it is unevenly divided does make it annoying especially if you are trying to use the highlighter.

Natural or full on? It can be natural and full on. If you have medium to tanned skin and/or darker than that, this contour shade wouldn’t show up well. But pale girls can achieve both a natural and full on looks with this.

Does it last a good amount of time?: The standard amount of time for a powdered contour product.

Contour on fleek?: I believe so, it’s a very cool toned contour so it’s amazing at mimicking a shadow on your face and I’m always happy with my contour when I use this.

Packaging: Standard packaging and it comes with a mirror.

Price: $10.00 AUD

Availability? Priceline and Big W. Sorry it’s an Aussies product.

Shade range?: There is only one, no other shade options.

Who would love it? Those with fair skin who want a nice sculpting affect, drugstore lovers, contouring beginners, those who love a natural highlighter.

Who wouldn’t love it? Those who like at least three contouring shades to choose from in the one product, those with darker skin, those who like extremely intense highlighters. Obviously international peeps can’t get a hold of this product.

Rating: 8.5/10

Overall thoughts? I really do enjoy using this contour duo. It’s easy to use, the perfect contour shade for when you want a sculpted look and it’s affordable. My only issue is that I’m obviously going to hit pan on the contour shade long before the highlight shade. And you can’t buy the contour shade separately which is a bummer because you don’t want to repurchase the whole thing again and have another full highlighter. But other than that it’s a wonderful product.

Would I repurchase it? It’s always sold out which makes that difficult but if I was given the option I’d wait till I hit pan on both products.

That’s a wrap for the post peeps. Have you guys heard about this product? What contouring products do you enjoy? Tell me about them in the comments. I’ll see you lovely people in the next post.

I quite like the sound of this, I'm really inexperienced with contour so a natural touch is definitely something I'm after.

It doesn't look like much at first and the highlighter is difficult to use but the contour shade is gorgeous.

The shape is definitely odd and that highlighter is difficult to get to, their trio kit looks promising.

I have yet to get into the contouring craze. I just don't think it works on me! However from what I've heard, I think the Maybelline one is one of the best drugstore options. Great review, very thorough and informative!

I've heard loads of good things about this kit, it's much more affordable than most other cool toned contour shades! I prefer a natural contour anyway – if something is a bit too crazy I just look like I'm a drag queen!

I remember checking this out in store but leaving it as I wasn't a fan of the packaging and the shape looked a bit weird for trying to pick up product. It doesn't look bad for the price though x

This is a very great contour shade, I wish they sold it separately the highlighter is a bit redundant.
