Hey there lovely humans. This post is quite exciting! As you know I am shameless when it comes to blog series. Often without even trying, some blog ideas magically poof and turn into a blog series. This is mostly because I can’t keep things short and down to a top 5 or top 10 kind of deal. Is it just me or when I don’t include a certain beauty product I feel as though I am playing favorites with my kids.
Anyway! My craziness aside, today I am bringing to you a brand new blog series! I have been working on this for quite a long time actually. This blog series is called ‘All about the base’ and each post I will be talking to you guys about a different type of base.
What is a base? Well I count it as Primer and/or setting spray + Foundation + Concealer + Setting Powder. Each of those counts as a base product but together they comprise the base of your makeup. You guys know I am a base junkie, and if you don’t have a good base, you can kiss the dream of your makeup looking good that day good bye!
So each time I bring to you one of these posts from this series, it will be a different type of base. I personally have Dry/dehydrated skin with a shiny t-zone but I will try and cater for you guys with oiler skin types as well.
So from the tittle the first post of this series needs no introduction and it’s one of my favorites. Today I am going to talk about a full coverage and hydrating base!
Here we go!
Nivea after shave balm
Yes the men’s after shave product that has sky rocketed to best primer is included in this look. I am so impressed with this it isn’t even funny. It’s both hydrating and helps to keep your makeup in place all day so it’s essential for this look. | Review
L’Oreal Paris magic blur primer
Because I am using a watery type foundation, I like to include a pore blurring primer as they tend to become accentuated whenever the foundation I use has a water like quality.
Urban decay naked skin foundation
Said watery based foundation that I mentioned above. It has crazy good coverage considering it’s watery like nature. It comes close to looking like skin because of how thin the formula is but it simultaneously gives you flawless skin. It’s hydrating but if you are suffering from dry patches, watch out because this foundation doesn’t cover up crazy dry patches well.
Clarins instant concealer
One of my favorite concealers underneath the eyes. It sits so well there which is a rare thing for me because my under eye area is a giant mess. It has great coverage as well and is an all-rounder. | Review
Mac studio fix concealer
Spot concealer doesn’t play a key role, sometimes depending on how my skin is going the foundation covered up everything that needed to be covered so I don’t use spot concealer at all.
Mac fix +
I personally use this right before or right after primer because I don’t like applying it over foundation. No matter how I go about it, this spray doesn’t work for me when I spray it over foundation.
Chichi mineral powder
All the shades except for the translucent shades are technically mineral foundations. I like to use the shade fair as a setting powder though. It’s finely milled and gives extra coverage over the foundation. Also great to use if you are using a light coverage foundation.
That’s a wrap for today’s post ma peeps! What products do you use for your base when you guys are going for a hydrating yet full coverage look? Let me know in the comments below. I’ll see you guys in the next post, have a great day!
