Hello gorgeous humans! Well hasn’t felt like a long time since I did a favorites post. It hasn’t probably been that long I buy so many beauty products all I need to do is blink and already I feel like it’s time for another one of these posts. You guys know the drill – monthly favorites aren’t my cup of tea. Is it just me or does it not create a lot of pressure to have a new batch of favorites every 4 weeks and have to post it in the beginning of every month? So you guys know me, I opted for a different route. There are a lot of skincare items in here as I finally made myself jump back on the skincare wagon officially. I did a beauty chat post about it and all the guilt that was involved when it came to being lazy at skincare, click here if you want to see that post.
Okay enough jibber jabber let’s get on with the post! Ps. bring a snack with you for this one.
Here we go!
The La Girl Pro HD foundation | I have worn this foundation about twice so far. The hot weather lately has made be avoid wearing makeup when I can because it’s just too hot to be in the mood for a beat face. I really really like this foundation, my skin type does make it easy to work with. It’s so hydrating and it has incredible coverage. Some of you may find it too greasy so if you have oily skin you won’t like it. Though Tati from Glam life guru who has combination skin also loves this foundation. It’s so affordable and so incredible.
Neutrogena hydroboost water gel | I don’t know why I spent so long avoiding this line from Neutrogena. When I first spotted it I knew I immediately wanted to try out this range but then I read a couple of reviews and it left me unsure. This product is incredible. I use it as the step of a moisturizer. It has the famous hyaluronic acid which is what makes it so magical. It sinks into the skin very quickly, leaving your skin feeling extra soft, hydrated and plump all day. I definitely want to try all the other products from this range.
Elizabeth Arden Beautiful color grand entrance mascara | This one was a part of a Christmas present I had received. I received an Elizabeth Arden gift set and this was among the three products I ended up liking. The other stuff weren’t so great. This mascara makes your lashes look STUNNING. Now I do have naturally quite long and full lashes so it doesn’t take a village to get mine looking good but this mascara definitely has the way factor. The only downside is that this is the only mascara I have come across that sort of agitates my eyes and causes them to water. It isn’t extreme irritation but I do notice it isn’t super comfortable to wear. Lately I’ve been wearing a different mascara and applying a bit of this on top so that I can still receive its effects without the uncomfortable feeling.
Maybelline Master Fix setting spray | You guys know I am drugstore makeup junkie but I don’t know why I am always a bit skeptical towards drugstore setting sprays. I do hope to change this but I have tried a couple that literally did nothing for me. This however is such a lovely setting spray. It gives your face an even mist without drenching you or wrecking your foundation and I do notice a boost in my foundation’s wear.
Biore baking soda cleanser | As I have jumped back on the skincare wagon which means not only doing my skincare routine on makeup days but EVERYDAY. This has been my daily cleanser. Knowing that baking soda is in it does give you the impression it will be quite drying on the skin but it actually isn’t. I find it quite refreshing and cleansing. It makes my skin feel very clean and refreshed but it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight. If anything my skin feels soft after using this. It even have very very gently exfoliating grains so you do get a little bit of exfoliation as well.
Physician’s formula butter bronzer | The butter bronzer from Physician’s formula has been on my wish list for what seems like forever. I purchased both shads because I was that excited. They really are buttery, easily to wear and have this very subtle sheen to them. They aren’t stupidly pigmented where you will make mistakes but they do show up on the skin and blend easily. I do wish they had deeper shades as I am currently tanned from beach trips so I can’t enjoy their full potential but they are awesome. If you are really fair skinned you’ll love these and they really do smell like a tropical drink, the smell is quite strong actually.
Mecca facial sunscreen SPF 50 | For some time now I’ve wanted to incorporate SPF into my morning skincare regime. I mean summer in Australia this year has been absolutely insane and let’s face it the Aussie sun all year round is pretty crazy. I didn’t know where to go into the SPF route. I didn’t want beauty products that just happened to contain SPF but I didn’t want to use the sunscreen I wear at the beach on my face. Especially if I was going to be wearing makeup that day. I had no idea that facial sunscreen was a thing to be honest, and watching a video from the youtuber ‘Josie Gleeson’ we got chatting and she recommended the mecca facial sunscreen. In a nut shell – I am obsessed. It’s hydrating works incredibly well underneath makeup and I know I am covered SPF wise as I got a whopping 50. I am a happy camper.
A makeup brush from ‘Wish’ | It would be much easier if the makeup brushes I purchased had names. It is hard talking to about them in posts because often they just have generic names. Regardless of that they still are incredible and crazy affordable. This one is a dupe for the Nars Mie Kabuki brush (sort of) and I’ve been absolutely loving it for both bronzer and blush. I definitely want to pick up some multiples. It picks up the right amount of product, blends things out nicely and is just generally a lovely brush.
Alpha-H Liquid Gold | High end skincare is definitely something I want to try a lot more of but that is easier said than done. Of course high end skincare items are obviously expensive but on top of that I repurchase skincare items quicker then makeup – so it is a bit of an investment. This Alpha-H liquid gold is one I’ve been curious about for years and I have a lot of texture issues and little bumps on my skin that aren’t necessarily pimples (maybe a sign of congestion). I’ve been using it for a good three weeks now and I do like it, it hasn’t fixed up the original issue I was looking for completely but it does help reduce those bumps. I use it every other night and so far so good. I’m glad I picked it up, it was on sale as well so I purchased the 200 ml bottle for a bargain.
ElF Illuminating highlighter palette | Elf has come out with so many interesting products so I was excited to finally pick up their palettes. I do love a popping highlight but with drugstore highlighters I am more forgiving and don’t expect a popping highlight level. I was pleasantly surprised with this highlighter palette. I’d say it is very close to the same intensity as theBalm’s Mary loumanizer highlight. So I’ve been really enjoying wearing this on the cheekbone. You get 4 shades and I’ve been mixing three of them together and applying them on the tops of my cheekbones. It’s a pretty smooth formula the powders aren’t chalky and there aren’t tacky and obvious glitter chunks in there.
Nivea Aqua sensation day cream | This is a rediscovery for me. Years ago this was one of the first moisturizers I picked up when I was getting into skincare and I fell in love with it. I did run out of it and when I went to repurchase it, it was sold out. I ended up picking something else and never got around to repurchasing it because I just kept trying other moisturizers. It’s definitely just as good as I remember. It’s light weight but very hydrating, it sinks into the skin quickly and it smells so lovely.
Color pop pressed eye shadows | You guys know I am absolutely bananas for the makeup geeks shadows and what they all about. I am also a big fan of color pop but my biggest pet peeve with them is that most of their products are cream and so in comparison to other makeup items they will eventually dry out and become unusable quicker than the others. So that has what has tampered my purchases from them as if I go overboard I am paranoid when they do eventually dry out it will all happen at once. So when they finally came out with a powder formula and it was eye shadows you could place in a palette – I literally made an order the day they were launched. The formula is super pigmented and easy to blend there is a bit of a fall out issue but I forgive that little crink. The shade range is also gorgeous! The shades ‘come and get it’, ‘High strung’, ‘top notch’, ‘wait for it’ and Bel air’ are my favorites. I also adore using ‘let me explain’ as a cheek bone highlight!
Palmer’s cleansing oil | Last but not least is this cleansing oil by palmers. Using a cleansing oil to remove my makeup is an absolute must have for me! It’s so efficient and quick and easy and ever since I began using a cleansing oil a few years back I ALWAYS remove my makeup before bed. I’ve been using the sanctuary cleansing oil for years and I do love it despite the packaging being annoying and prone to leaking. It was sold out when I went to repurchase it but lately I’ve been noticing a lot of brands in Priceline coming out with cleansing oils. I am excited to try them all. I did start with the palmer’s cleansing oil as I’d heard really good things about it. So far I am liking it and I do find it to remove all my makeup even easier! A big thumbs up for this one.
