Rimmel ‘Wake Me UP’ Foundation

Hey there beautiful humans! It’s review time once again you guys know I like to take my foundation review very seriously. Who doesn’t love a good base and knowing as much information about a foundation before you buy it is important? You guys know what it’s like coming to face with a bad foundation, when it goes bad it goes very bad. So I do like to pack in extra information with foundation reviews especially.

Let’s get started!

What are the claims of this foundation?: It claims to contain skin brightening vitamin C, it claims to be an ‘anti-fatigue foundation’ making it won’t make your skin look tired. It also claims will illuminate the skin and have it looking glowy and it claims to contain peptides and a vitamin moisturizing complex.

Does it deliver on its claims?: It does give a glowy / radiant finish to the skin and make your skin look more lively. I am not sure about the claims wherein it contains peptides and vitamin C. formula wise there is nothing extraordinary about it, it’s like a typical foundation formula.

Coverage: This foundation is about medium coverage. I wouldn’t call it super buildable at least for me. If I try and get it to full coverage it cakes up on me fairly badly.

Skin types appropriate for this foundation: It is a glowy foundation. So I’d say if you suffer from oiliness there is a chance you won’t be a fan. Once again I don’t have oily skin so it’s impossible for me to know how it would work with oily skin.

Longevity: It lasts an average of 8 hours I’d say. Of course a setting spray, primer, setting powder etc. can help it last even better but this isn’t a long lasting foundation all by itself.

Application: It goes on fairly easily, it does help to wear a primer – either a smoothing or hydrating one as it can look awkward on the skin without a primer. I do have bad and good days with this foundation. Sometimes it looks nice on my skin, other times it just doesn’t want to sit well on my skin and so it ends up looking awkward. I like using a flat top foundation brush and going over it with a beauty blender to further blend it out.

Packaging: Standard glass bottle packaging and it comes with a pump!

Formula: It’s a fairly hydrating and creamy foundation. It’s not up there with some of the very hydrating foundations I’ve tried but it is decently hydrating. It does have the annoying tendency to settle into pores and cling on dry patches and texture.

Pros: It’s fairly easy to apply, gives decent coverage, has a decent shade range and is affordable. It’s pretty hydrating.

Cons: It has the tendency to settle into pores and cling to dry patches and sometimes it just doesn’t sit on my skin overall nicely.

Shade range: There are 6 shades in total

Price: $19.95 AUD (It is $15. 28 AUD on feelunique)

How much product do you get?: You get 30 ml of product

Availability: You can find this foundation Priceline, Target & Feelunique,

Rating: 6.5 / 10

Overall thoughts: I do like this foundation but I am not crazy about it. I don’t like that I have days where it just doesn’t want to sit well on my face. Also because it settles into my pores I have to wear a pore filling primer with this foundation. It’s alright for the price, lately I’ve just been mixing it into other foundations since I am tanned from summer and I can’t wear every foundation I have straight from the bottle. I prefer mixing it with other foundations as it masks the pore settling and dry patch clinging.

Would I repurchase this?: Most likely not

And that wraps up the post! Have you guys tried this foundation? Thoughts? What foundations have you tried lately? Are there any Rimmel foundations you want me to try? Drop a comment and let me know. I hope you guys have an awesome day and I’ll see you in the next post.

This is actually one of my favourite foundations I’m surprised you don’t like it so much! I think it is quite light but perfect for the hot weather! x

I still wear it. It’s just not one of those foundations I am crazy about. It’s wearable just not awesome compared to some of my other foundations

It’s a reoccurring theme with rimmel foundations. I just haven’t fallen in love with any

Ahh I thought it was going to be a winner until I read that it settled into your pores. Also as it only has 6 shades I doubt I would find a match. Rimmel doesn’t seem to offer many medium to dark shades >:(

Yes It looks okay when I go in with a pore blurer and I wear it on those days when I want to wear makeup around the house for fun but i have many foundations I like far better. It also contains glitter particles not super obvious but some may not like that.

i agree with you that this foundation does not look so good when built to a full coverage look. It is a nice option from the drugstore but too bad that it emphasize the dry patches,.

Yes, It’s not too bad it just seems to be the pattern with Rimmel foundations, they don’t like to sit on my skin nicely.

I have yet to try a Rimmel foundation that I like, I haven’t had any luck with them at all! This one sounds okay but probably wouldn’t go well with my oily skin. Really appreciate your honest review on this, darling! Thank you for sharing. <3 xoxo

I am in the same boat as you. I have many many drugstore foundations that I love but rimmel foundations aren’t my cup of tea. They aren’t terrible just not amazing. Thank you for stopping by the blog!

Everyone seemed to go crazy over this foundation, so an honest review is much appreciated. I would love to try it but if it settles in the pores, it would be a no no for me since I have large pores. And the fact that it has only 6 shades to choose from makes it difficult to find the right shade for your skin tone! Great review xx

You are welcome. Foundation is a tricky category of makeup, everyone’s skin is different so you are going to get different experiences between each person. I’m glad others loved it, it seems to be a reoccurring theme with rimmel foundations. They just don’t want to sit on my skin well.

I haven’t tried this yet, but sometimes I have days where a concealer/foundation just doesn’t do anything for me, and other days it works well haha! xx

Foundations can be like that. Sometimes it’s the foundation you are using or how you are applying. Other time our skin type and skin issues can get into the way of the foundation looking right.

This was my go to product when I was in uni! But no going to pick it anymore as I stay away from foundations nowadays as they tend to break me up when I wear them for a long day. But you are right about how it sits on the pores, i remember that there were days it looked fairly good and other times, it looks cakey.

I used to absolutely love this foundation, it was my favourite high street one! I’m going to repurchase it soon so I’ll be interested to see if I love it as much or whether I’m not so sure like you!

For me I thought I’d love it but I’ve tried the match perfection and now the wake me up foundation. It seems to be a occurring theme with rimmel foundations, they don’t sit on my skin well and my pores look noticeable. I still wear it, it’s just not my an amazing foundation.

Everyone’s experience with foundations is different. For me it seems to be a reoccuring theme with Rimmel foundations. They are okay they just aren’t amazing.

I’ve tried one of their other foundations and it didn’t work for me. They don’t offer enough shades for women of color. But I love that they’ve incorporated Vitamin C into this one.

Yeah their shade range isn’t the best when I purchased this I was extra tanned during summer and all my current foundations were to pale for me haha.
