Well hello there you gorgeous humans!
I have been meaning to get around to this review and now that I am officially on uni break for a month I am working my little butt off trying to get as much blogging stuff done as possible. So for today I am finally getting around to reviewing the colour pop super shock eyeshadows! Now I have talked about colour pop here on the blog before. Sharing with you guys some tips for those of you about to make your first colour pop order. I’ll link it right here.
Okay so I am going to jump straight into the review!
Pigmentation: The pigmentation of the shadows is very awesome. There are certain shades (I call them the equivalent to a transition in the powder eye shadow world) that aren’t as poppin’ in terms of pigmentation, they give more of a wash of color to the lid but the crease / lid shades are very very pigmented. ALSO keep in mind the shadows swatch beautifully BUT a lot of product gets left behind on your finger so not all of the product transfers onto the eye.
Lasting power: They do last wonderfully well! That is what excited me about these shadows. I was looking for a long lasting formula without having to play a crap load of money for a cream shadow. Once you apply them, you have a little bit of play time and the
Application: I apply these shadows using my finger. Color pop also recommends this. I haven’t come across a brush that applies them well at best you get half if not less than half the pigmentation you would get using your finger. Because of this I recommend sticking to shades you would want all over your lid. If you pick up a matte dark brown unless you want it all over the lid it will be difficult applying it in the crease or outer V using your finger. So keep that in mind! And like I mentioned above a lot of the product does stay on your finger so keep that in mind just because the swatch looks amazing that same color pay off may not necessarily appear on the lid, especially for the more natural looking shades.
Formula: So they are in fact cream eye shadows. But it’s not a typically cream eye shadow formula or texture for that matter. It has this light “airy” feel when you go to swatch it, feels silky and just glides on the skin. This is the same formula for all their cream products. It really feels lovely and unique and it does have a sort of bouncy ‘puddy’ like quality to them.
Shade range: The shade range is absolutely insane, they have a big ass selection of colors to choose from.
From Left: Top row = Wattles, Game face, Amaze, Sequin / Second row = Lovely, smash, Kaaepop sunset Bvld, Weenie / Third row = Lala /
Shades I own:
Finish: They also have a lot of options for the finish of the shadows. Whether you are looking for matte, shimmery, satin, pearlized, metallic, glitter and an ultra-glitter & ultra-metallic. So whatever finish you are looking for they have it!
Packaging: It’s a pretty standard packaging, just the pressed cream shadow in a plastic plot. You do want to make sure you close it tightly to keep it from drying.
Shelf life?: I purchased the super shock shadows June 27th 2016, as I write this post it is the 21st of June 2017. So nearly a year on the dot and they are still going strong, feel silky and just as when I purchased them. If they do reach a point where they have completely dried out and I must toss them I will let you guys know on social media. When I first purchased them I was a bit iffy about whether they would dry out quickly so I didn’t want to purchase any more of the cream shadows until I saw what happened to the first round I bought and just how long they’d last.
Pros: Pigmented, wide shade range, affordable, a lovely formula
Cons: Their cream nature means they could dry out and become unusable before you have used them up. Certain shades are too natural and so they don’t give a good color pay off. The really dark shades you’d apply in the crease or outer V can’t be applied with your finger and these shadows don’t work well with a brush.
Availability: Only through the Colour Pop website!
Overall thoughts: I really do enjoy these eye shadows. I love the creamy silky formula and the gorgeous color pay off you get. They are affordable so you really can’t lose. You definitely should test the water and try a few out first but they are such gorgeous eye shadows!
And that wraps up this post! Have you tried the Colour Pop super shock eyeshadows? Or any other colour pop products? What was your thoughts? Drop a comment and let’s get talking. I hope you all have an awesome day and I’ll see you in the next post!
