Beauty Products Worth The Hype | #1

Hello there awesome humans! Well it’s that time again where I finally share with you guys a post I’ve had in my ideas column for ages but for some reason never got around to writing it. With bloggers and beauty gurus on YouTube, it’s safe to say that the majority of our makeup purchases or beauty purchases in general are based on the opinion of these people. We seem to want a product 10x more when we hear the beauty community talk about it. The more and more people that join the band wagon the more determined than ever we are to own it. Now of course with all beauty products everyone’s experience can be different and at times that hype becomes misguided.

Today I am here to talk to you about the products that did pan out and were definitely true to all the hype they got, at least for me. So let’s get started!

TheBalm’s Mary Loumanizer | of course this highlighter would be mentioned in the list. It doesn’t need much of an introduction you all know Mary Lou I’m sure. If not let me tell you about her! She will give you a gorgeous glow on the cheekbone, very noticeable and pretty but wearable for both day and night. She’s affordable and also works as an eye shadow and just brings this wonderful beam to your face. Definitely worth the hype! I haven’t heard of one person not like this highlighter. |Review|

Sleek solstice highlighter kit | Speaking of highlighters, of course I had to include this one. It’s always a big deal when a drugstore brand launches a fantastic product. So of course everyone was all up in a buzz when a glorious yet affordable (is not so affordable if your aussie) highlighter is released. This gives such a gorgeous glow to the face! It’s not boring and overly subtle but it’s also wearable during the day. You get three powder highlights and a cream highlight. Don’t be frightened by the lavender shade, it hardly looks lavender on the skin.

La girl HD concealer | I am a base product junkie. You can’t have good looking makeup if your base is looking iffy. I at times do get a bit skeptical about base products from super affordable brands. I am not talking regular drugstore brands (I am a drugstore junkie), I mean brands like ELF, LA girl, Wet n wild, Essence – sure they’re good brands but base products are a tricky thing to get right. There are even some high end brands that come out with iffy foundations. So when LA girl launched this concealer and everyone fell in love with it. I felt so excited. I was not disappointed when I tried it. It has insanely good coverage, a wide shade range lasts very nicely and is insanely affordable. I am a happy camper. |Review|

Physician’s formula butter bronzer | These are a fairly new addition for me. I picked up both shades because I was that excited! I am already a fan of the physician’s formula cashmere wear bronzer, so I had no doubt I’d love these as well. And boy do they deliver. I will say that between the time I ordered then and when they arrived – a week and a half; I went to the beach twice and got quite tanned. They still do show up on me but they are quite sheer. If you fair skinned peeps are out there, you’ll love this bronzer. It really is buttery, blendable, it goes onto the skin nicely and it is just an all-round awesome bronzer.

Real techniques makeup brushes | Real technique brushes DEFINITELY deliver on the hype. These were the first legit makeup brushes I tried and it made me realize when you have the right tools you makeup skills definitely improve. I do find that some of the brushes I love are only available in a set which is a bit annoying as that makes it difficult to buy multiples of the one brush. I love their face expert brush, their buffing brush, their blush brush, their multi-tasking brush, the contouring brush and setting brush. They are definitely my favorite ones!

Too face born this way foundation | of course this foundation is included on the list! I did mention I was a base junkie after all! I don’t know what magic is sprinkled into the formula of this foundation but it literally gives you a flawless face and yet it’s hardly noticeable on the skin. I know right?! That is some straight up voodoo magic. It lasts a nice time on the skin, is easy to blend and sits on the skin so nicely. On top of that it has a reasonable shade range. I am loving this foundation I can tell you that much.

Maybelline age rewind concealer | Last but not least is of course this Maybelline concealer. I love almost all of the Maybelline concealers but I feel like this is the one that is hyped up the most. It really does a bomb AF job under the eyes. It covers what it needs to cover, lasts nicely, hardly creases on me and just sits nicely under the eyes. I am a huge fan of this concealer. It’s a good one to try out! |Review|

And that wraps up this post. Have you guys tried any of the products I have mentioned? Did you find they lived up to the hype? What products have you tried that you found to be true to all the hype they were getting? Drop a comment and let’s get chatting shall we?! I hope you guys have an awesome day and I’ll see you in the next post.

It’s funny because I was totally unfussed by Born This Way – as in not interested in buying it – and now suddenly I really really want to try it as I reckon I’d actually really love it!

I tried a sample and really fell for it. I have a serious addiction to foundations – like it’s become an actual problem haha. I just loved how once I wore it, it made my skin look flawless with minimal evidence I was wearing foundation. What more could a girl ask for haha. You should definitely try it Sal. x

Unfortunately Butter Bronzer is way too light for myself skin tone. 🙁 I wish Physician Formula will come out with darker shades.

I had the same problem during summer but now that I am at the end of winter I am at my palest and I’ve been loving it so much. They should make darker shades. The warmer months are coming soon and I don’t want to stop using it.

The first time I tried the Maybelline Age Rewind I loved it, but then I noticed it never sat well on my skin, sometimes sticking to dry patches, and came off so easily whenever I so much as patted my face, which is strange because I have drier skin. Seems like the unpopular opinion though!

Concealers and foundations can be quite be like, our skin type will pretty much determine if we like a concealer/foundation or not

They just are so good and a reasonable price as well! I do admit I have become obsessed with finding even more affordable makeup brushes on ebay and alli express. But real techniques is the one well-known makeup brush brand I highly recommend! x

    What a great post!
I own the highlighter pallet from Sleek but with other shades. It’s not too long ago since I bought it but I still haven’t tried the cream ones. I’m a bit worried that I could ruin my make up by not using it correctly. haha 😀
