Hey guys! Okay as I am writing this I am having myself a lovely blogging day. There is nothing quite like having a day where I can focus on all things blogging – it’s literally the best! There was an ‘Incident’ today where there was a lizard in my room – it wasn’t that big but needless to say I screamed like a little girl – It took a lot of man power to get it out but now I am in a Lizard free room and My Tarte tartlette Holiday collection order came in so that fixed my mood.
That tangent was totally unnecessary but hey I just figured I’d divuldge the minor drama of my day! Now on topic – today i’ll be reviewing a foundation – a cushion one! Yes it seems that many brands have been chucking out cushion foundations ever since Lancome came out with theirs. So I think I’ve rambled enough for today how about we jump into this review!
What are the claims of this foundation?: On the packaging all the foundation really claims is to be a dewy / glowy foundation. However, I made sure to google the product and see what it claims on the L’Oreal Paris site itself. On the L’Oreal Paris website it claims this foundation will give you a ‘natural glow finish’ and that it has a ‘fresh and weightless formula’. It also claims that it’s easy to apply while on the go and that it has an SPF of 29.
Does it deliver on these claims?: I do find that it gives a glowy finish to the skin. It does feel light and weightless as well however I don’t find it necessarily easy to apply. This is only because I am not a ‘foundation on the go’ kinda gal. If I don’t have the time I’ll just wear concealer not foundation.
Coverage: I’d call this a light coverage foundation. I have heard some youtubers call it medium to full coverage but those youtubers actually have quite clear looking skin. So if you do have blemishes or skin issues you do want to cover up really well, the foundation on its own won’t be enough.
Skin types appropriate for this foundation: This is quite a hydrating foundation. I always say this in my foundation reviews so it may feel repetitive – but I don’t have oily skin, only my nose gets oily and a little bit of shine appears on my forehead and chin. So I can’t really evaluate how effective a foundation would be for oily skin. However, I don’t think this is the type of foundation you peeps with oily skin will go nuts over.
Longevity: I wouldn’t call this foundation heavy duty or sweat proof. I’d say it lasts an average of 8 hours. I always always wear a primer and setting spray with foundations and of course I always set my foundation with a powder.
Application: It does go on fairly easy and blends out nicely. I prefer using a foundation brush over the little puff they give you. I will say that it does take a while to build up the product so that it looks like it’s made a difference to your face. It isn’t the fact that its light coverage that makes that an issue but it does take a lot of effort to get a good amount of product out and overall cushion foundations contain less product than your average foundation. So application is where it loses points for me.
Packaging: So the packaging is what makes this foundation different from the others. It’s a plastic compartment type product. In the first compartment they give you a puff to apply it with and in the second compartment exists a circular sponge drenched with foundation. The idea is you press the puff into that cushion and it dispenses the product. It is fairly small so it is travel friendly and you don’t have to worry about foundation leaking all over your makeup bag.
Formula: It’s quite a lightweight and hydrating formula. It sits on the skin nicely, blends easily and it just feels quite comfortable to wear. It doesn’t settle into pores or cling to dry patches.
Who would love this foundation?: if you find you hardly ever have any time to do your makeup, you like light coverage and like keeping your makeup in a makeup bag. You’ll enjoy this foundations. Also if you like a dewy luminous finish to the skin.
Who wouldn’t love this foundation?: If you are looking for a long lasting, bullet proof longevity and/or a matte finish. You won’t like this and also if you don’t want to spend a lot of time applying the foundation so that it looks like it’s actually doing something you like it. In addition to this if it bothers you that you get half the product than in a typical foundation this cushion foundation won’t be your cup of tea either.
Shade range: There are 6 -7 shades in total (depending where you buy this foundation from). They cover the shades decently well but like all drugstore foundations there is always that easy possibility you won’t find a shade that matches you well.
Price: $29.95 AUD
How much product are you given?: You are given 14.6 mls
Overall thoughts: I do like this foundation. It’s not that fact that it is light coverage that bothers me. I love light coverage foundations. I just don’t like the fact that I have to keep pressing the sponge to get any product out to feel like enough has been placed on my face. What makes it more annoying is that you get only half the amount of a regular foundation so you are bound to run out of it quicker. For the fact that it is 30 aussie bucks that makes it overall too pricey for how much you get and what it is. If only this foundation formula was in a actual foundation bottle – I would have quite loved it. I am still going to play around with it, it is still usuable I am determined to try and find a way to love this product but overall cushion foundation aren’t anything special from trying this one out.
Would I repurchase this?: Most likely not. If I did pick it up again it would definitely have to be during a sale and that is only if I found a way to make myself love it more then I currently do.
And that wraps up this review. Dam this was quite a long one! Have you guys tried this foundation or any other cushion foundation? What are your thoughts? Any tips that will help me love this more then I currently do? Drop a comment and let’s get chatting. I hope you all have a splendid day and I’ll see you in the next post.
