2017 Beauty Favourites

HOW IS THIS YEAR ALREADY OVER?! I swear it was just the beginning of the year like 5 minutes ago. While this has been a crazy, wonderful and sucky year all at once – I have discovered so many makeup favourites – it’s kind of insane! This year I’ve also been super lucky to have gotten the chance to work with brands more frequently, so a few of the products here happened to be gifted (I’ll let you know which ones). This isn’t a sponsored post – I ran an Instagram poll asking if you guys would like to see a yearly favourites. So here it is! This is an insanely long post, so grab a drink and several snacks!

Let’s dive in!

Physician’s formula butter bronzer

Is it really a surprise this bronzer is the first thing to go on the list?! This is hands down my favourite bronzer of all time! It’s sheer yet buildable, super easy to blend out and just look absolutely stunning on the skin! I do wish they had a darker shade for when I have a bit of tanned skin going on but I seriously recommend this highlighter – it’s the shizz! |review|

Colour pop pressed powder eye shadows

OH EM GEE! Y’all know I am an absolutely nut when it comes to custom made eye shadow palettes. I’m ride or die for makeup geek! But when colour pop dropped their own set of eye shadow pans – I was in actual heaven. Between those two brands now I am swimming in eye shadow and I love it! They’re pigmented AF, blendable with a killer shade range. They have do have a fall out situation but I don’t mind it. Ever since colour pop launched a powder formula – I haven’t been able to stop myself shopping from them.

Tarte in bloom eye shadow palette

A fairly recent edition thanks to the Tarte tartlette vault holiday collection but I knew I’d love this palette before I purchased it and I was right! The shade range is stunning, the shadows are buttery and pigmented and blendable. Not to mention the packaging is so photogenic and beautiful I could cry! I love this palette so freaking much!

Models own sculpt and glow highlighter powders

These two highlighters haven’t been in my collection long but from the moment I played with them I literally shouted out – HOLY GRAIL! I don’t yell that easily when it comes to highlighter. These highlighters give you a beaming, blinding, glossy (non-glittery highlight) and I love them for that! They also happen to be a bargain for highlighters very very similar to the Becca ones (dare I say)

Colour pop ultra-glossy liquid lipsticks

I first tried these from a lip set I picked up from colour pop. It had the ultra-matte, ultra-glossy and ultra-satin. I hate the matte formula as they made my soul feel dehydrated when wearing them. The satin were alright but the glossy formula was bitchin! Since then I have picked up lots and lots of shade from the ultra-glossy formula. They are so comfortable on the lips, glossy (duh!), hydrating and they have really good pigmentation – way more than an actual gloss! These are awesome guys!

Milani baked blush – Bella bellini

I have loved the Milani baked blushes for years! For so long I only ever had two shades from them – Berry a’more and rose d’oro but the other shades I wanted were always sold out! I finally got to pick up the others shades – bella bellini being one of them. Dam is this a gorgeous shade! It’s a pink with gold running through it and it’s so gorgeous on the skin. These blushes are crazy pigmented so tread carefully as when applying them – it’s too easy to go over board.

Bobbi brown skin nourishing glow foundation

I love dewy foundations but in some cases foundations can compromise on coverage when they give you a glow. Not this foundation! It gives you a ‘lit from within’ sort of look which is perfect considering Aussie summer has us sweating like a donkey so it’s hard to balance sweat with dewiness. This foundation is perfect for that. I’ve definitely jumped on the Bobbi brown band wagon and there are many other foundation from them I now have in my sights. *Gifted

Clinique colour pop lipsticks

These Clinique lipsticks have a creamy, smooth formula, the last well on the lips and don’t transfer or bleed out. I’m so impressed with these lipsticks, they were definitely a highlight for me. I need to get me the nude shades from this range – they are that good! *Gifted

Morphe x Jaclyn hill eye shadow palette

I told myself that I wouldn’t fall for the hype of this eye shadow palette – especially because of Morphe’s awful shipping fees. Then something happened, Beauty bay began to stock this palette and I was like ‘who am I kidding – I need this palette’. The shades are pigmented and blendable and heavenly! The shade range needs no introduction – it’s absolutely gorgeous! This palette has definitely given me a taste of morphe eye shadow palettes and now I definitely need to pick up some more of their palettes. But yes for many of us beauty lovers, this palette was definitely a highlight!

Nyx no filter face powder

I have had my eyes on this powder for quite some time! I loved how it looked baked but when swatching it, it doesn’t look glittery on the skin. It just gives you a very subtle glow to the skin in a very flattering and natural way. I love using this powder to set my foundation because it keeps my foundation from transferring yet it doesn’t give me a bleughh matte look. This powder is one to check out peeps! *Gifted

ELF Bronzer palette

E.L.F has been pretty awesome with their launches in the last few years. I picked up many of the E.L.F palettes this year. I’ve loved all of them but I particularly love this one, I have found myself researching for it quite frequently. The shades are very versatile and work well on fair skin. The bronzers aren’t orange or too muddy, they just look super awesome on the skin.

La girl pro HD foundation

This brand caught my attention with their awesome concealer. So when I started to hear buzz around their foundation I knew I would also be picking that up. This foundation means business! It’s super dewy (at times too much during those hot/sweaty days), it’s hydrating, full coverage, lasts very nicely on my skin and has an incredible shade range! I love love this foundation!

Tarte Shape tape concealer

I don’t always fall for hyped up products but let’s face it – this year many of those kind of products got me good! I know I needed to try this concealer out because my under eye situation is kind of a mess! This concealer has full coverage, sits so well under the eyes and is very cream. It does have more of a thicker consistency so Y’all have to be careful with how much you apply under the eyes. It also lasts so well and really is just such an awesome concealer – Hence why it is very hyped up!

Huda Desert dusk eye shadow palette

Speaking of hyped up new releases this year – here’s another one to add. Before I picked up this eye shadow palette I hadn’t possessed any high end eye shadow palettes. (Boy are the flood gates opened now). It was the shade range that got me – I am quite convinced this shade range was the result of some wonderful magic spell. It looks like art! The previous huda eye shadow palette didn’t appeal to me. But this one has the most stunning warm tones I’ve ever seen. They shades are pigmented, blendable and I mean that shade range – seriously!

Tarte toasted eye shadow palette

Another heavenly eye shadow palette (that I got from the tartelette vault holiday collection). These shades are warm and when there are warm shades in town I need to get them! As typical with Tarte – the eye shadows are so blendable and buttery it’s a treat to work with them. I am definitely a tarte junkie come the conclusion of this year!

Colour pop pressed powdered highlighters

Keeping with the trend of powdered product from colour pops – I have been loving their highlighters! If you guys haven’t noticed by now I like my highlighters INTENSE! So I don’t throw around the world awesome for highlighters very easily. These highlighters are glowy and intense with a very wide shade range – so many skin tones can enjoy a blinding highlight. I also love that I can stick them in a palette for extra convenience.

Milani baked blushes – luminoso

The other shade of the Milani baked blushes I have wanted …. Literally from when I first got into makeup! This shade is still frequently sold out and not easily to grab a hold of. This is a coral/pink and look gorgeous! Once again it is insanely pigmented which can make it difficult to apply – so be careful but there is no secret as to why this is such a popular shade – it really is beautiful!

Tarte limited edition blush bazaar palette

I have wanted to try out the tarte Amazonian clay blushes for as long as I can remember. There are so many drugstore blushes that I am insanely in love with but longevity and blushes don’t always go in the same sentence. These tarte blushes on the other hand are said to lasts very well – and they do just that! I can actually see my blush still on at the end of the day. This palette has 10 shades (About the size of a large single eye shadow) but it’s perfect to try out the blushes and many of them. I’ll definitely be picking up these blushes in the large size for sure! This palette is limited edition – so get on it!

And that wraps up this post! I’ve gone through at least two coffees writing this bad boy up. I hope you guys are still conscious. If you did make it through this lengthy post WAY TO GO! Have you guys tried any of the products mentioned in this post? What were your 2017 beauty favourites? Drop a comment and let’s have a chat. I hope you all have a great day and I’ll see you in the next post.

    So many eyeshadow palettes!
I’ve heard a lot about the Tarte Toasted palette, and they’ve now added a black shade in their, how amazing!
Wish I could get my hands on some Tarte stuff, but it’s proven quite difficult to get in Belgium 😉

And I have a feeling this year is going to be filled with even more eye shadow palettes. I’ve bought 5 this month with another one on its way! I think I need rehab haha. Do they ship from the Tarte website to belgium? We have it at the Australian sephora as well as the tarte site but the tarte site has better sales and stocks shape tape unlike sephora.
