The Blogging Edit | How to fight the blogging blues

Blogging may me a very lovely thing that keeps us busy, gets us in a creative mode and is all round a wonderful thing to do. It doesn’t mean that it’s a walk in the park. From the never ending to-do list to balancing it with other aspects of our life and trying to find good lighting for our photos – when you add a funky mood to the mix consistent with blogging can feel as though its slipping away.

It could be a lack of inspiration to some kind of insecurity about blogging. Today I want to share with you some tips to help you get through the blogging blues. So let’s jump right in!

  1. Read other blogs

I find that discovering blogs and reading posts from some of my favorite bloggers always gives me the good kick of inspiration I need to take a look at my blog and reevaluate. It also makes me want to just work at my blog in general whether it’s writing pots or taking pictures. It’s definitely helpful as a blogger to do some reading yourself.

  1. Interact with the blogging community

Aside from reading blog posts, I find that interacting with bloggers reminds me of I love blogging so much. You get to know some awesome people who have the same passion as you. Whether it’s makeup or blogging or both. It’s nice to talk about common interests and you meet some really nice people. Whether it starts of through commenting on their blog posts or following them on twitter or Instagram. Getting in touch with the bloggers behind the blog definitely shows you the wonders of blogging and its community.

  1. Listen to music

Whether I am working on a story/narrative/creative piece or I am writing on the blog. I find that listen to music helps put me in a relaxing sort of content mood. Often it usually propels me into a productive streak.

  1. Switch off

Sometimes it’s good to just switch off. At times being in a bad funk can be a signal from the brain telling you to relax. I find that after many many days of doing all things blogging sometimes I crash and burn. I know it would be ideal to pace one’s self but I like to dedicate as much as my free time to blog prepping as possible. So that when I am busy I don’t feel like I am falling behind on blogging. That however can lead the brain to say enough is enough! So if you are finding you are in this sort of funk – switch off! Turn off social media, your lap top, your phone. Have a relaxing bath, read a book, lay in bed and watch a movie or tv show. Go out for a walk or out with friends. Not every thought in your brain needs to be thinking about blogging or your lack of blogging.

  1. Pre-written posts

I feel like every blogging tips related post I mentioned pre-written posts. Pre-written posts have literally been my savior when it comes to blogging I can’t even begin to tell you! Or maybe I can if I decide to write a post about pre-written posts. When you’re riding the inspiration wave and you are on a productive streak when it comes to blogging I recommend pre-writing blog posts and putting them in the bank. Not only are they are life saver when you are busy and make staying consistent and organized with blogging easier – when you are in a bad funk you will be able to take a proper break from technically blogging while still putting up content on your blog for readers. There have been many times where I just haven’t been writing posts because of a bad funk I was in and I still was able to put up content.

And that wraps up the post. I hope you guys found these tips helpful. Remember not to be so hard on yourself if you’re finding you aren’t consistent with blogging or in a bad funk. You will find your feet. Do you guys have any tips for how to rid yourself of the blogging blues? Drop them in the comments. I hope you all have a wonderful day and I will catch up with you in the next post.

I love this! I recently took a blogging break because I was seriously uninspired and just did a complete makeover of my blog this month. #2 is what really helped inspire me to start writing again; I looked through Twitter and found so many amazing blogs to read and made an effort to interact with them

Thank you. Yes I think its part of being a blogger and sometimes taking a break is much needed. I know that’s why I pre-write posts and take images in bulk so when I’m taking a break from creating content, I’m not depriving my readers or damaging my blog’s growth. Yes there is nothing better than discovering new blogs and bloggers to connect with.

I always have a few pre-written posts and they have been saving me from when I have no motivation, like now. Too much going on at the moment and I just can’t sit down and write so a pre-written post will do for now 🙂 A break is always a good idea, I might need one soon!

Pre written posts are honestly a life saver. I’m lucky to have so many ready to go. Having lots of pre written posts takes the pressure off and if anything it puts me into the right space to want to make write up posts.

Yes such an underrated difficult part is trying to keep active on social media as well as read as many blog posts as possible. Really being a blogger is a never-ending list of stuff to do.

Usually I take a long blogging break whenever I feel uninspired and come back feeling fresh. I agree with communicating with the blogging community, most that I have interacted with are very supportive!

So am I. I mean between being busy back when I was swamped with Uni I never had the chance to blog enough to the point where I was in a slump. I also pre-write crazy amount of posts as well as snap photos in bulk so even if I am not actively making content, my readers aren’t deprived and I can take a break guilt free. Thanks love. x

This post was perfectly timed for me, as I’m going through this now! I feel like the pre-written posts idea is a really good one. I often try and push myself to schedule loads but I think just having some good posts sat in drafts to be used as and when would be so helpful! Thank you for sharing!

Oh girl pre-written posts are literally a lifesaver. Its so liberating to write posts whenever you feel like it and not feel pressured because you have no content to put up. My pre-written post list is so large now I’ve been working on it for 2 years and while I of course post from it whenever I feel like writing posts I add them to that stockpile. Its also handy if you are physically busy to write posts.

Exactly! Pre-writing / Pre-photographing allows me to do that as I try to maximise content when I’m inspired / in the mood for it & if I am not I can take a step back, guilt free.
