New Makeup I’ve been Trialling | Part 1

Well hello there you gorgeous humans!

Change is a good thing, it can be scary, uncomfortable & dam right inconvenient at times but its necessary. Aside from me switching from posting 3 times a day on Instagram, to once a night (because engagement has been abysmal) I have decided to do a new thang on the blog – talk about new makeup I’ve been playing around with.

I feel like it takes forever for a product to make a debut on the blog whether its through a review or other type or post so I thought why not be spontaneous and bust out post on new stuff that I post up immediately rather than schedule it down the track!

Sounds cool? Okay let’s jump in because this post is going to be LONGGGGGG. Bring snacks!

Makeup revolution ‘Conceal & Define’ Concealer

I don’t find this comparable to the tarte shape tape concealer, at least in my opinion. I definitely love shape tape more but I am still quite enjoying this concealer. It does a pretty good job under the eyes, I of course go in with a corrector. But it doesn’t crease …. Much & it just sits quite easily there. I’ll be buying a couple more of these during my next shop revolution order.

Designer brands ‘Vivid glow illuminator’ palettes *

My love for this brand has gone from 0-100 real quick! These limited highlighter kits are no exception. They are so glowy come in both a champagne themed kit & a ‘over the rainbow’ kit. I find even the more colourful shades in the rainbow kit are still pretty wearable & all in all these make me glowy AF so they are a winner in my book.

Hourglass ambient lighting bronzer

This has been on my wish list for absolutely ages. I’ve become obsessed with sheer bronzers as they are so much easier to use. They apply easily, don’t look splotchy or unblended. I do feel like I may have gotten a shade that was too pale for me as it doesn’t show up much but I still love it and it gives me ultimate flexibility in terms of how to apply it as I don’t have to worry about it being too much.

Bobbi Brown ‘All day glow’ *

This is such an interesting product. It isn’t your typical liquid highlighter! It’s sort of like a gloss for the face, it’s slightly tacky but works well on the cheekbones. It gives you that ‘wet look’ and it is super glowy & intense. It’s easy to go overboard with this & look sweaty so watch out for that but I’m really enjoying it!

She Aromatherapy ‘Age defying’ Foundation *

I hadn’t heard of this brand before I got to collaborate with them & boy am I impressed by this foundation. It covers well, lasts well, blends easily & sits on the skin so nicely. It doesn’t look cakey, or powder it just looks so nice.

Benefit ‘Bad gal bang’ Mascara

I usually don’t dive into the world of high-end mascaras as I have tons of favourites at a more affordable price BUT I was in a ‘treat yo self’ mood and with all the raves I had to try it out for myself. I can confirm every comment mentioned about this mascara is 100% true. It makes the lashes insanely dramatic, of course if your lashes clump easily or can’t handle intense mascaras, it may be too much for your lashes to handle.

L’Oreal Paris ‘Lash Paradise’ Mascara

As I write this post I literally have this mascara on my lashes & it’s the first time I am trying it. I am definitely impressed with it, it gives lots of volume & lift to the lashes. I hear many compare this to the too faced ‘better than sex’ mascara but I am yet to try that one. I will say the mascara wands look exactly the same so who knows. But so far I am very impressed with this mascara.

Designer brands cosmetics ‘Luminous Hydrating’ foundation

This foundation has been non-stop showered in raves. To be fair this foundation has me at the tittle. Luminous & hydrating?! Where can I sign up?! I was low key worried it wouldn’t work well with my skin, call me paranoid but as soon I wore this foundation, all worries were GONE. It is so glowy it’s quite crazy. To be fair I did pair it with the laminating primer from DB cosmetics but this foundation is so freaking good!

Makeup revolution ‘Liquid highlighter drops’ – Luminous Luna

I always go for powders or liquid for everything except foundation/concealer. I find that creams/liquids like a highlighter can break up on the skin and be annoying to apply. I also find especially with highlighters they are never that intense. This product has proved me wrong! It lasts so well on the skin, doesn’t break up and is crazy intense. It’s definitely brought my attention to the world of LIQUID highlighters (I still don’t like cream highlighters) – I’m still getting use to applying it but I plan on picking up more shades.

Designer brands ‘Sheer radiance’ tinted gel moisturizer

This sort of reminded me of the bare minerals complexion rescue gel (not that I’ve tried that one yet!). Formula wise – it’s incredible, it glides on the skin, blends very quickly and looks awesome and natural and gives your skin a nice little boost. But shade range wise even the lightest shade (out of the 2 shades they have) is too dark for me. So this one I’ll have to mix & match with other base products to wear which means I can’t enjoy its pure formula.

L’Oreal Paris ‘Perfect slim’ liquid eyeliner pen

I tried this eye liner the other day and I was quite impressed by it. To be fair it had been a long time before I wore eye liner so I was definitely rusty (not that I had sharp skills to begin with) but I did find it applied eye liner super easily, especially for my right eye but as I am right handed, my left eye was definitely tricky. It has a very slim applicator which is a must for me because I like quite a thin line.

Natural glamour ‘Miracle BB cream’ *

Another base product I tried where formula wise I loved but shade range was not only too dark for me but way too pink toned for my yellow undertoned skin! This is a self-adjusting product so it turns out white and “adjusts” to the skin, I tried applying it with a brush but I had to switch to using my hands (which I never do) and it surprisingly blended in so well. But yes shade wise – I couldn’t wear this out but when playing with makeup at home I’d use this product.

Ofra Highlighter ‘Rodeo drive’

The ofra highlighters have been playing on my mind for quite some time. I mean I am a highlighter fanatic & these highlighters were getting lots of raves! I picked up the classic “rodeo drive” & I am shook at how glowy this is! I was worried it would be too dark for me but this stuff makes you beam and glowy AF! I’ll definitely be getting myself more shades.

L’Oreal Paris ‘Pro glow’ Foundation

I have been eyeing this product for quite a while (way before it launched in Australia). So when it finally did launch I knew I’d get it I just waited for a sale because why not. I have tried this once so far & I love it! It gives you that ‘lit from within’ look which is awesome as somedays the extra dewy foundations can leave my looking sweaty. It applied easily, blend easily and the shade ‘202’ matched me perfectly. This foundation gets 2 thumbs up from me so far.

Milani ‘2 in 1 foundation and concealer’

I was concerned this foundation would be too drying for my skin but it applied surprisingly well thanks to my makeup brush/beauty blender combo. It covers so well & lasts well as well. I was very happy with how it looked. I’ve only tried it once so far but first impressions left me happy to keep on wearing it.

Milani ‘Make it last’ setting spray

The number one thing I look for with setting sprays is “DOES IT GIVE A FINE & EVEN MIST”. Anything less than this has my foundation looking streaky and unhappy. I am happy to report this spray is finely misted & it also smells quite nice! It did keep my face looking fresher for much longer but I’ll have to play with it more to see just how long it can make the makeup last!

Hourglass ambient lighting blushes

Last but DEFINITELY not least are the glorious Hourglass ambient lighting blushes, I treated myself with Birthday money to these delightful babes. I knew I had to own the full sized blushes as hourglass palettes just wouldn’t cut it for me. I have 2 shades from the regular ambient lighting collection in “diffused heat” & “Luminous flush” I also have one of the ambient strobe blushes in “incandescent electra” I’m already obsessed with these blushes and how gorgeous they look – I’ll definitely be picking up more shades.

DB cosmetics ‘Rise and prime’ Illuminating primer

Last but definitely not least is this wonderful little primer from DB cosmetics. This stuff is very hydrating and incredibly glowy! As the name suggests! I find most ‘dewy primers’ aren’t really that dewy or they just have glitter particles in them. This particular primer is the perfect in-between it makes you glow in a very natural way and it also hydrates the skin so it’s a 2 in 1 kind of deal.

And that wraps up this post! As you can see I’ve been going through lots of new makeup goodies – I know I know, I need to slow down and enjoy my collection rather than being on a constant spending rampage – easier said than done. Any who, do you see any favourites in the products I’ve trialling? What new makeup have you been playing with? Drop a comment and let me know! I hope you have an awesome day and I’ll see you in the next post!

I am tempted to try Benefit Bad Gal! Does it hold a good curl?

It does hold a curl really well. For some this mascara can be too clumpy it depends on how much your lashes can handle. My lashes can handle a lot. They sell a smaller tube on sephora – that would be the perfect size to get to try it out.

So many amazing products here! I love love love Hourglass bronzers, they are amazing. Plus little goes a long way and you can layer them all you want, they will never look “powdery”. Great haul and also glad that you’re enjoying the Benefit mascara! xx

Yes I am loving everything, I just wonder if I should have gone a shade or 2 up with the hourglass bronzer as it looks too pale on me.

They really are beautiful! I used my birthday money on them because they are just so pricey I don’t have the patience to save up for them. I definitely want to pick up more shades.

I adore both! Pro glow doesn’t have the best shade range but I was lucky that 202 fit me very well.

Wow, you’ve really been trialling a lot of products! I haven’t actually tried much of these myself but I haven’t actually been enjoying Paradise that much if I’m honest – it just doesn’t give me the POW factor I so desire!

I’m quite lucky as my lashes are naturally long and full so it isn’t difficult for me to find a mascara to give me that POW – I have discovered so many that do & the more natural ones I use them for no makeup makeup looks.

Yes that benefit mascara can be quite controversial to some but my lashes adore it. Sephora do sell a smaller size so when you are ready for it, you could try out the smaller size first.

Yes girl check it out for sure!. The shade range can seem unusual as the pans look darker than how the highlighter actually comes out so I’d google swatches.

Love how there is a mix of high-end and drugstore! Also, it’s great how the review is quick and efficient.

This is definitely an accumulation of products over 2 months but yes I am a drugstore addict – I go high end for those unique products that are worth it.

Ooh! You’ve been having a lot of fun lately with beauty products – dreamy! I’m SO curious about the Hourglass ambient lighting bronzer (thinking of all of those warmer days ahead!). Sorry to hear you think you picked up a shade too light, although building up the bronzer sounds lovely as a more subtle option too! 🙂 x

I’ve been quite busy over the last 2 months haha. I don’t mind the shade I picked but formula wise it is an absolute dream!

I’m an absolute avocate for the Hourglass powders. I only own one blush and one bronzer but they are such great quality!
    You chose well 😉

I have the problem with the lashes clumping together wht the Benefit Bad Gal Bang. It’s one I seriously need to work with, and I always have to keep a spooly with me to run through my lashes after applying this mascara. Such a shame because I see people applying this and it looks completely different on them!

I love the Lash Paradise though. It’s so good!

I definitely plan to purchase more, they’re just so pricey and when you want every shade it can be overwhelming haha. Some have experienced clumping, I feel like it depends on each person and their lash structure. My lashes can handle it luckily enough, it’s gorgeous. Yes Lash paradise is also so good!

  13. New Makeup I’ve been trialing | Part 2 – The Makeup Aficionado

    June 16, 2018 at 3:24 am

[…] Well hello, there you beautiful angels! Okay so lately I’ve been trying (and buying) a lot of foundations, especially over the last couple of months & I’m not particularly keen on doing first impressions in blog post form. I find it a bit bland to spend an entire blog post talking about my first impressions of a single product when I plan to do an in-depth review. BUT this combining numerous first impressions into the one post has quickly become my favorite thing. So here I am with another edition of this series where I chat to you guys about the new makeup I’ve been trialing. If you want to check out part 1, click here. […]
