My relationship with Glycolic acid has definitely been a complicated one. I feel like the complications started when I heard everyone rave about that ingredient which turned into me thinking it could fix my texture issues. After trying numerous products and not being a massive fan – I have finally found a glycolic acid toner I love and of course it is the infamous Pixi glow tonic.
So if you’d like to hear my thoughts on this well-known product – keep on reading!
Let’s jump in!
Targeted skin type It is suitable for all skin types.
Facts about this skincare product It contains 5% glycolic acid, it contains Ginseng and Aloe vera (which is why its so hydrating). It also contains no alcohol and it isn’t tested on animals.
What is its purpose? It claims to help with cell renewal and reduce the size of pores. It also claims to balance, soothe and heal the skin to help it look brighter.
Does it achieve this? Yes it does, it definitely helps your skin feel clean, smooth and clear as well as give you skin a healthy glow. It’s also super hydrating and gentle on the skin!
Packaging: Usual bottles of pixi glow tonic come with a lid that has an opening you pour the product out of. This limited edition 500 ml size comes with a pump.
How much product do you get?: Now I was incredibly lucky to be sent the limited edition 500 ml size but the usual sizes sold is the 100 ml and the 250 ml. This also comes in a travel-friendly pixi glow tonic action pads.
Did it irritate my skin? No it doesn’t, even with daily use. It’s definitely different to other glycolic acids as its seriously hydrating and gentle on the skin!
How many times a week do you use it? It’s definitely an acid you can use daily because it isn’t harsh or drying on the skin.
Morning or night?: You could use this either morning or night (or both), or when needed.
Does your skin adapt to it over time and therefore become less effective?: I haven’t noticed this it still gives your skin a healthy glow and brightens your complexion
Pros: Its hydrating and gentle on the skin while giving you a brighter complexion and helping your skin stay clear.
Cons: If you have texture issues on the skin like bumpiness/closed comeodones – this product doesn’t help with that. Its also not super affordable for aussies.
Price: $46 AUD for the 250 ml size
Overall thoughts: I can definitely see why this product gets all the raves its super different to all the other glycolic toners. It makes the skin feel so good and it gives the effect you expect it to – which means healthy, radiant skin! I’m a massive fan of this one!
Would I repurchase it? I do see myself repurchasing this for sure – I only wish they always sold a 500 ml size.
