Okay so I need to say something – I hate the word lippy! I don’t know why but I just do. It’s such a weird word but when it comes to lip products you can’t just say lipstick as an umbrella term. There are so many types of lip stuff – lipsticks, liquid lipsticks, lip glosses, lip liners, lip crayons, lip tints – but I hate the word lippy even though that sums everything up. I just stick to the word (or rather two words) lip product.
That was a totally random tangent but I just felt I had to say it. As a beauty blogger the word ‘lippy’ appears a lot. I guess that’s what bakers go through with the word ‘moist’.
ANY WHO! It’s time for a review and I better jump into it quick before I ramble about something else. Cliff notes version – it’s review time and I’m talking about lipstick … yes actual lipstick not may way of avoiding the word I mentioned above that I dislike.
Just a disclaimer – these lipsticks were gifted to me by the wonderful peeps from Clinique Australia. This is not a sponsored post and as always all my opinions are my own and the cold hard truth!
Boom! Let’s jump into things
Formula?: So first things first the formula – because what is a lipstick without a good formula. These lipsticks go on really smooth, they are creamy and hydrating (not in the slippery it transfers all over the face way). They feel super comfy on the lip and don’t start to make your lips feel dry.
Longevity?: These lipsticks last so well! I mean how they manage to make lipsticks creamy and hydrating yet actually stay is beyond me. Then again they do say in the tittle that it incorporates a primer … so I am no detective but I guess that’s how. Boom mystery solved!
Shade range?: There are 18 shades in this range – that’s pretty good and I am already eyeballing those nude shades! There are 25 shades on the Clinique website.
Color intensity: The colour intensity is very opaque. They aren’t just a sheer tint – they mean business and definitely make your lips POP … get it get it!
Packaging: Standard lipstick packaging. The lipstick is in bullet form, with a slanted shape. The outer packaging of the lipstick is rectangle in shape – you kind of think it will be a liquid lipstick but surprise it’s not! (Pstt their actual liquid lipsticks do look the same, so when purchasing make sure to double check).
Application: They apply really easily. They glide onto the lips and the slanted shape of the lipstick bullet helps with precision.
Finish: These lipsticks definitely have a more glossy sheen like finish. They aren’t matte – that’s for sure. It’s not oober glossy but you definitely get a bit of reflection and sheen going on.
Price: $40 AUD
Pros: They have a creamy smooth formula, the shade range is very lovely, they last well on the lips, they are hydrating yet they don’t bleed out. They are very pigmented.
Cons: They aren’t the most affordable (but they are definitely worth it … my first taste of high-end lipsticks and I’ll be coming back for these bad boys regardless of the price)
Overall thoughts? I’m honestly so impressed with these lipsticks. They just feel so good on the lips and that’s all a girl can really ask for. They don’t slip and slide yet they last well. The shade range is super pretty and they have a lovely glossy finish. I’m in love!
Would I repurchase more shades?: Yes I definitely need to purchase the nude shades! I am already a nude shade junkie and the dream formula of these lipsticks has pretty much sealed the deal!
And that wraps up this review. Have you guys tried out these lipsticks or any of the lip products from Clinique? Drop a comment, I love hearing from you guys. I hope you all have had or are having an awesome day and I’ll see you very soon in the next post.
