Empties #2

I don’t know about you guys but finishing up a beauty product is the most satisfying thing ever. With exception to those expensive products that our bank accounts hope we don’t repurchase. Me being the beauty product hoarder I am, I feel a little bit vindicated when a product is actually empty. Like yes, I may have FAR TOO MUCH beauty products but look I’m using them up (some of them).

Anywho, it’s time for another round of Empties. If you’d like to see my first one, click here to check it out.

Okay, we need to get started because this is a long post!

Neutrogena Hydroboost gel-cream

This is the moisturizer that got me hooked on gel moisturizers! Like I seriously can’t see myself going back to regular old boring moisturizers (with the exception of the nivea aqua sensation day cream). This stuff is the most hydrating, lightweight, quick sinking thing to ever be slathered on my face. It feels so luxurious and my skin feels amazing every time I wear it. This moisturiser is also super affordable and it’s super easy to find it on sale. I especially love wearing this on days when I’m wearing makeup, it works so well under makeup and allows it to go on so much better.

Will I repurchase? I definitely will be. First I am about to crack open a tub of the Neutrogena hydro boost water gel to see if I like it more (or if it’s entirely different in which case I could love both). But I’d happily repurchase this again and again!

Murad Hydrating facial toner *

I’m obsessed with facial mists. Like anytime I see a brand that stocks one I need to try it. I usually keep it quite affordable in this department as I go through them like crazy. I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to try this product out and oh em gee I’m loving it so much. It drenches the skin very well and feels extra fancy. You definitely get a good amount of product (200 ml). It’s super refreshing, hydrating and my skin is very happy when I use this.

Will I repurchase? Normally I gravitate towards more affordable facial mists but this one is so lovely & is available on Sephora via after pay so I definitely seeing myself picking this up again. I have a couple of facial mists to go through first but this is on the repurchase list!

Aqi Skincare ‘Gentle face’ Cleanser *

Cleansers don’t leave the biggest impression on me, as long as they clean the skin & don’t dry it out – I’m happy! This was a very lovely cleanser, super gentle on the skin and hydrating – and I loved using as a second cleanse following a cleansing oil when removing makeup.

Will I repurchase? I have only tried one cleanser to date that I want to repurchase again and again. This was nice but I’m not obsessed with it to the point of needing to repurchase it again.

Real-U Face gel *

This product which I use as a serum (pretty sure that’s what it’s made for) is super-duper hydrating, gentle and sinks in quickly. It’s part of the real-U range which is designed to clear up the skin & keep it clear. I did a post on their products, click here to read it. I just love how hydrating it was and yet it would sink in within 10 seconds. I happily used this up and it’s quite a lovely serum as it didn’t have any stickiness to it.

Will I repurchase? I feel like I’m still on the lookout for my HOLY GRAIL serum but I did really enjoy this serum. I do see myself wanting to repurchase it again but I’m not in a rush to do so.

Origins Charcoal mask

When I first picked this up, charcoal masks weren’t that common. This was also very raved about so I just had to try it. Its super clarifying, pulls out all the dirt & grime from your skin. It does leave your skin feeling a bit tight which is why I like to follow up with a facial oil & a hella good moisturizer. It’s a nice face mask but virtually every skincare brand has a charcoal mask, many of which are affordable.

Will I repurchase? No. there are so many brands with charcoal masks now, a lot of which are affordable & I like better.

Cinch ‘Face it’ 5 in 1 Cleanser Micellar Water

I love me a good micellar water! It’s the perfect third step when removing makeup and on those days when I am EXTRA lazy and on the verge of skipping skincare all together I use micellar water in replace of a cleanser (I try not to do this often as I don’t want to be completely lazy). This one leaves absolutely no residue on the skin and is super awesome at getting all dirt, grime & makeup off. It’s also super gentle on the skin and doesn’t irritate my skin whatsoever. I also like the packaging, it comes with a pump which lets you distribute the product on a cotton round – so no accidental spills! *crowd cheers*

Will I repurchase? I already have a backup!

Palmer’s Ultra-gentle cleansing oil

I will be using cleansing oils to remove my makeup till I am an old lady! I swear by them, I love them and if you haven’t tried using it to take off your makeup ….. try it! I cannot stress to you guys enough just how much I love cleansing oils. This Palmer’s one, in particular, is super nourishing, melts off the makeup and your skin is left feeling so soft. It leaves a tiny bit of a residue (which doesn’t bother me) – but for those of you who don’t like any kind of oil feel to the skin, this particular one won’t be for you. But there are so many cleansing oils on the market and many don’t leave any residue on the skin, so it’s 1000000% worth it to try a cleansing oil!

Will I repurchase? Yes I will, I love this cleansing oil so much!

USPA ‘Lavender & Olive leaf age-defying’ Hand cream *

A lovely lightweight hand cream. My hands felt soft and there wasn’t an annoying greasy residue. It had a twist off lid which was annoying because twisting the cap on with freshly moisturized hands isn’t easy. Overall it was a very nice hand cream.

Will I repurchase? I bounce around when it comes to hand creams, it would take an extra awesome one for me to repurchase.

Swisse Manuka Honey Detoxifying Face mask

One of my favourite face masks. It contains charcoal and is super detoxifying but also very hydrating and nourishing for the skin. I find that some charcoal face masks leave the skin painfully dry and tight. This face mask doesn’t do that – my skin feels extra clean but nourished at the same time. I still like to go in with a moisturizer of course but I’m not slapping on a facial oil out of necessity.

Will I repurchase? Yes I will but I have a few other face masks to go through first.

Colour pop ‘Amethyst crystal priming water’

It is no secret that I am not a fan of the colour pop setting sprays. I’m not a fussy person when it comes to setting sprays but all I ask is that the spray is a fine mist and doesn’t ruin my foundation. Of course, I also want it to actually serve a purpose (settle down powderyness, increase longevity) but a fine mist is the make or break for me. The colour pop setting sprays are the equivalent of turning a hose on your face. Now I don’t mind a little bit of a wetter mist but it still needs to be fine and even. This stuff blasts your face with liquid and your foundation gets stuffed. I was about to declutter them until I had a light bulb moment … why don’t I spray my beauty blender with them? Ever since I did this technique I haven’t run my beauty blender under a tap. And I am going to continue using the spray technique for dampening my beauty blender. I didn’t want to use any of my other setting sprays for this technique as I find them awesome for spritzing the face and didn’t want to waste them.

Will I repurchase? I have another 3 of these colour pop setting sprays to go and I will continue to use them for dampening my beauty blender but I won’t be repurchasing them. (They are good at dampening the beauty blender because of their intense mist – so if you looking to try out this technique maybe you should try one of these colour pop setting sprays).

Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix daily cleansing pads *

I was lucky enough to get the chance to try out these bad boys and I’ve really been enjoying them. They aren’t too intense or irritating on my skin but allow my skin to gain … and retain some radiance and smoothness. I like that they soaked up cotton rounds which saves me from having to pour product onto separate cotton rounds. My only pickle is that the cotton rounds are so thin it’s hard peeling a single sheet off.

Will I repurchase? Funny enough I was planning to only repurchase the Night-time glycolic pads but they were sold out so I purchased 2 tubs of this daily version (they were 40% off I’d definitely only purchase them on sale)

Real U gentle cleanser *

This cleanser was very nice and gentle on the skin. It did leave the skin feeling super clean without feeling super dry or stripped. I liked it but I’m yet to discover a cleanser that has me truly obsessed.

Will I repurchase? Most likely not.

Maybelline fit me concealer

You guys know how I feel about Maybelline concealers, this being one of the ones I really enjoy though it’s not my favourite – master precise definitely is! It’s super hydrating and very easy to blend out! It doesn’t cake up or crease or look gross under the eyes. |Review|

Will I repurchase? Already have!

Klorane nutra oil hair spray *

If you guys ever wonder why I hardly talk about hair care on the blog or on Instagram, it’s because my haircare game is WEAK! I literally use whatever shampoo & conditioner is in the shower, throw on a frizz serum a leave-in conditioner and boom I’m done! I like to keep it simple because I’m that lazy and this product was good for that. It was nutrition for the hair and super easy to apply evenly. My hair felt soft without being made greasy.

Will I repurchase? No, because Priceline doesn’t’ sell it despite stocking Klorane and I can’t find anywhere else that sells this product.

And that wraps up this lengthy post! Have you tried any of the products mentioned here today? What products have you used up recently? Drop a comment and let’s have a chat! I hope you all have a great day and I’ll see you in the next post.

This was such an interesting read! I wish I could save up all of my empties, but I have absolutely no patience – so kudos to you my friend. Thanks for such an honest review and I am curious about the Manuka face mask now! xx

It’s definitely a underrated skill keeping all the empty products but after being a very inconsistent gal with my skincare and in the last 4-5 months really upping my game. I’ve noticed that saving my empties actually motivates me further to being more consistent with my skincare. I’m also trying to do a thing where I only treat myself with skincare purchases when I’ve used certain products up. It feels so good to use products up. You are very welcome lovely girl, it’s an awesome face mask – super clarifying without drying out the skin.

I love seeing this! I’m always amazed to see how much products people use up, compared to myself who hardly ever uses things up! I am really interested in that Origins mask by the way. I just really like the brand and I obviously love myself a good charcoal mask.

I’ve only recently started doing this. A couple of months ago I was shockingly inconsistent with my skincare routine & therefore hardly used products up despite purchasing them like crazy. Now that I’ve finally tapped into more consistency with skincare (still not perfect) I have bad days but I’m much much better with it than how I use to be. Skincare products will always be used up quicker than most makeup.

The only reason why I didn’t repurchase the Palmer’s Cleansing Oil was it stung my eyes so badly! Other than that it’s a lovely cleansing oil.

Cleansing oils can be a tricky thing when it comes to the eyes. When I first used cleansing oils. I used one pump and placed it over my closed eyes to remove my eye makeup, after rinsing my eyes were blurry for a few minutes though they didn’t sting. I find when applying a cleansing oil I use 2 pumps, apply it all over my cheeks, neck, face and leave the eyes for last so only a tiny bit of residue goes over them and it works wonders.

I love gel creams, they work so well with my awkward skin and I still need to try the Fit Me concealer, I am weary to try a cleansing oil but will keep my oils peeled for this one! Thank you for sharing, hope you are having a great week xxx

Cleansing oils can be scary but I am truly addicted to them, they are the ultimate method of removing makeup. If you are worried about cleansing oils leaving you greasy, I highly recommend the B-Labs just cleansing watery cleansing oil. It’s a Korean skincare brand, a cleansing oil that leaves literally no residue it feels like water on the skin, it’s magical.

I have tried the Nip+Fab Glycolic Pads and liked them, but didn’t repurchase because I prefer liquid exfoliants that I just pat on to save on waste. And I have tried and repurchased the Fit Me concealer several times, even though it is not my favorite. It is just so convenient!

I prefer the night time versions of those Nip+fab glycolic pads and they are the ones I will be repurchasing. Yes that fit me concealer is quite nice but I definitely prefer the maybelline master precise concealer over it.
