Well hello, there my favorite people! I’m all about the highlighter life so of course, I need to tell you guys when I discover an awesome highlighter – it comes with the job as a beauty blogger. I also like to think of it as my highlighter/makeup addiction can serve a purpose this way.
So, in the spirit of turning my makeup addiction into something productive, let’s jump into this review!
How high is the glow factor?
These highlighters are quite glowy to the point where I am happy to wear them on their own without layering them with a more intense highlighter. I’m quite picky with what highlighters I like to wear by themselves as I like my highlight intense – both day and night. These highlighters gets the seal of approval with me.
Is it glittery or tacky?
Not at all. When you swatch the highlighters with your finger, you definitely can see the “glitter” particles but when you apply them with a brush you get a sheen to the skin rather than a tacky, glittery finish.
Are you able to highlight with all the shades?
The shades in both kits work well on fair complexions, there isn’t a shade that’s so dark that I can’t use it on my face. Of course, the highlighters in the champagne kit are more wearable and give a glow rather than any color on the skin. The rainbow highlighter kit gives more iridescent colors to the skin, I still find them super wearable but if you don’t like having any sort of colorful sheen to your highlight (like lavender or pink), than that kit won’t be for you.
The highlighters are quite finely milled and aren’t chunky or chalky on the skin. They don’t look overly powdery or textured on the skin. All you get is a super pretty glow on the skin.
Are the highlighters pigmented?
Yes the highlighters are super pigmented and super glowy as well (as you can see by the swatches!)
Do they show up in photos?
These highlighters do show up quite nicely on the skin when you take photos! Of course, it depends on the angle (you selfie takes know, that highlight only shows up with certain camera angles).
Are they good for night time wear?
While these highlighters I happily wear during the day without topping up with a more intense highlighter, for night time I feel like the lack of daylight means you need an extra intense highlighter. So these are more of a blinding highlight for the daytime.
This highlighter kit comes in two shades – Champagne & ‘Over the rainbow’
Super-duper glowy, it has a smooth, finely milled texture. The shades work very well on fair skin and you have a kit that has more wearable shades and another one that has more fun, colorful highlight shades. Did I mention for $15 you get three highlighters which is a bargain and the pan size is decent and super easy to dip your brush inside.
For nighttime wear the glow isn’t as intense, I like to layer it with a bit of an extra intense highlight for that extra pop!
I’m super impressed with these highlighters! I can be fussy with my highlight because I need it to show up and look intense, so anything too subtle doesn’t get used by me. These tick all the boxes and give you a gorgeous glow at a bargain price – who can complain about that? Not me!
Would I repurchase? I do see myself repurchasing the champagne kit!
And that wraps up this review! Have you guys tried the Vivid glow highlighter kits by Designer brands? Are you into single highlighters or highlighter kits/palettes? Drop a comment and let’s have a chat about it! As always I hope you have a wonderful day and I’ll see you in the next post.
