Well hello there you beautiful humans! It’s time for a review and since I own a scary amount of palettes, why don’t I review one for you guys and give my addiction some purpose?! Sound cool?! Cool!
Okay so let’s just dive right in!
Shade selection: As you can see by the shade collection this is definitely a more neutral palette! With the exception of one shimmery olive/khaki shade – the rest are all neutrals and super-duper wearable! The shades aren’t super warm toned (like what I usually gravitate too but they also aren’t cool toned and harsh).
Pigmentation: This is where the palette is a letdown! Now I have so many revolution palettes that I’m obsessed with so they know how to make crazy good palettes BUT this one is quite inconsistent. The mattes work fine and blend nicely but the shimmery shades for the lid aren’t that pigmented. With both drugstore & high-end palettes I always apply the shimmery shades to the lid with my finger (as I haven’t found a brush I like to apply shades to the lid!) but with this palette, while the finger will pick up pigment, it just doesn’t transfer well to the eyes. It’s such a shame but when you’re a palette hoarder like me (and have so many drugstore palettes that are awesome) – you don’t have much tolerance for a meh palette.
Is there any fall-out? There is a slight bit of fall out with the matte shades, though nothing major.
Do they blend well?: Yes they do, the matte shades blend super easy without any dramas and are very smooth!
Finish of the shades: This palette has 8 matte shades and 8 shimmery shades
Availability: Revolution beauty site
Price: $16 AUD
Wearability: The shades are definitely wearable the only “out there” shades would technically be the olive/khaki shimmer shade and the matte black shade.
Packaging: Okay so it’s’ the packaging the sucked me in I’m not going to lie and literally why I’m still keeping this palette – though in a separate section for makeup I technically no longer use as the blogger in me still wants to retain them for photography purposes! It looks like a chocolate bar and is based on the too faced 24K chocolate bar palette.
Pros: This palette is affordable, the shades are pretty, the matte shades work nicely
Cons: The shimmery shades are very hit and miss and aren’t pigmented enough on the lid (even when you apply them with your finger)
Would I repurchase this? Nope
Would I recommend this? No there are other palettes from the revolution brands that are far better like the reloaded palettes by makeup revolution!
Overall thoughts: This palette has very cute packaging and it’s not entirely unusable but as I said earlier I’m a major palette hoarder and I have so many ones I love (many of them being super affordable). I just have no tolerance for inconsistent shimmer shades, this gal needs her lids to be poppin’.
And that wraps up this post! Have you tried this palette out or any of the revolution palettes? What palettes did you try that you found to be a fail? Tell me about them in the comments below! I hope you all have an awesome day, I love you guys and I’ll catch up with you in the new post
