Hey there you gorgeous humans! Well it’s been a while (not really … I know I buy way too much makeup). The good news is you get to hear about my thoughts on all the makeup I get to try … so really my makeup obsession is for you guys!
Anyway, you guys know the drill. I talk about makeup I’ve tried lately and what I think so far!
Let’s dive in!
This isn’t the most hydrating primer I’ve tried but it gets the job nicely done and with some of my more fuss-free foundation it pairs wonderfully. I have quite a few foundations (mostly from Bourjois) that cause no dramas and sit on the skin really well – so I don’t need to whip out the heavy duty primers for those foundations – this DB cosmetics primer has been super hand for that!
While it goes on super opaque and the wand picks up a lot of product, it’s tricky to blend out. I blended my heart out with a damp beauty blender and was just able to salvage it, it’s definitely not a quick and easy concealer and there’s a chance of stuffing up application with it.
This concealer has a large dome foot applicator and I love that it picks up a lot of product. It blends out super easy and sits under the eyes well without creasing or caking. It also covers quite nicely though I wouldn’t call it full coverage – I always wear a corrector with under eye concealer! Now for the last few months I’ve been extra picky with my under eye concealer because I was tired of having good and bad days. So after re trying all my concealers (each several days in a row) – the ones that didn’t make the cut. So when I try a new foundation I don’t let the mundane make it into my concealer collection. While I’m still trying this concealer I’m about 85% sure this will make it into the rotation because it CONSISTANTLY performs well under the eyes.
I have been testing this on my t-zone with a lot of different foundations – my oily AF nose always looks wet/and very shiny 2 hours after wearing makeup so I need a product that will help fix that. The custom blot drops do make a difference, the more glowy my foundation is – the quicker the intense oiliness on my nose appears but compared to when I don’t use this product – the oiliness is definitely controlled. In combination with a mattifying setting powder and a not so dewy foundation on the t-zone – this product is awesome. Unlike other mattifying primers, the blot drops are so hydrating, lightweight and smooth over the skin so well – I’m quite digging this product!
It’s one of those setting powders that contains hyaluronic acid so while keeping your foundation in place it’s also super hydrating and melts into the skin. You don’t look cakey and your complexion looks flawless and smooth. I love pairing this setting powder with the too faced born this way setting powder for that flawless non-cakey finish. This concealer is very similar to the tarte shape tape, I like it a little bit better but there isn’t too much difference between them.
I’m pretty picky with my mascaras because I like dramatic lashes all the time and anything short of that – I don’t reach for. It’s safe to say that I’ve been constantly reaching for this mascara because it is crazy volumizing and lengthening. My lashes look very full, fluffy (but still dramatic) and long but not in a clumpy gross way. I’m seriously obsessing over this mascara, I highly recommend it.
I never got around to trying the original bronzer but it had always been on my list. Add fancy new packaging and I was quick to pick up this version. I’ve been OBSESSED with bronzers and at the same time very picky with them because I know exactly what I like and what I don’t. My kind of bronzer involves a sheer but buildable wash of color. I don’t like anything too pigmented because it ends up being a contour shade instead of a bronzing. I’m freaking obsessed with this bronzer! I literally love everything about it, from it’s gorgeous packaging to the perfect shade for fair skin. It’s also the perfect tone, not too orange or cool – completely neutral and a dream to work with. This is one of the top bronzers and I can’t stop using it.
This is the fourth Becca palette I have gotten and I almost didn’t get it! After Becca palette number 3 … and the fact that I don’t reach for them enough I swore I’d stay away from Becca palettes but that flew out the window as soon as I saw this beauty! It definitely has those hourglass vibes as the powders are very subtle, sheer but gorgeous. Now reviews are a bit meh I’m not going to lie about that – this palette comes in 2 shades light to medium & medium to dark – I have the light version. What do I love about this palette? The powders are sheer but super buildable and easy to work with, they don’t splotch pigment onto the face. The bronzer is gorgeous and so natural and the light beige powder is so flattering and versatile. I like to apply it underneath my contour to clean things up and sometimes to even set my foundation with it. The blush is also super easy to work with (and Becca blushes don’t usually agree with me!) and the dark matte brown shade works wonderfully well as a contour. I use and love every single product in this palette and the packaging is also gorgeous! I’m so glad I picked it up (can’t believe I almost didn’t!)
This is a nice primer and it does help with keeping my t-zone looking non-oily but my oily nose is so intense that the primer doesn’t do as much as I’d like it to do. It’s a little tricky to smooth over the skin as its quite thick and silicone/mousse like but once you work it into the skin it doesn’t feel drying or weird. I like it but I can already tell this one won’t be a repurchase …. Who knows it may grow on me.
As you guys have probably realized by this post and the previous ‘Trialling new makeup posts’ I’ve been on a high-end primer kick lately. This one was on the list and I can easily say I have discovered a hydrating primer that is seriously HYDRATING! I had a sample prior to purchasing this product so I knew it was freaking good. It’s like a gel moisturizer only it makes your foundation look CRAZY GOOD! Your skin looks plump, hydrated and your foundations sits over the top like a dream! Dry/dehydrated skin gals – you need to try this primer ASAP!
I have been on such a too faced kick lately – if you can’t tell by this post! This powder has been raved about and aside from the cute packaging, I was intrigued. Summer is on its way over here in Australia and my oily t-zone gets even oiler AND I sweat more too! So I need to salvage my t-zone so I took the plunge on this powder. It’s super smooth and gives you a soft matte finish without looking drying or cakey. No on its own, it can’t salvage my oily AF nose but with a primer and a non-dewy foundation on the nose (I finally can achieve a non-gross looking t-zone) …. Throws confetti in the air! It is heavily fragranced, like peach candy – kind of weird but I don’t mind it too much! I also love using this powder all over my face when I know I’ll either be sweating OR my foundation is extra dewy and I want to slightly tone it down. Even though I have a dehydrated skin type – this powder works well and doesn’t make me look powdery and cakey.
So far what I’ve noticed about this setting spray is that it doesn’t give you a fine even mist. It feels like a water piston on your face BUT it doesn’t ruin or wreck your foundation in any way. It helps keep the makeup staying fresh throughout the day.
Out of all the revolution highlighter kits I tried, this one blew me away because I was half expecting not to like it. The powders are super soft and butter and intensely glowy!
As soon as this concealer launched I knew I needed it! Not only am I as massive fan of too faced, I happen to be obsessed with the born this way foundation, this concealer this reminded me of the awesome tarte shape tape concealer. Mainly because of its chunky packaging and big ass wand. Of course I waited a little bit before purchasing it to see what people thought and all the buzz definitely had me keen, especially people saying it was better than shape tape?! *gasps*. So what is this concealer like? Well it’s FULL COVERAGE, yet sits under the eyes like a dream. It doesn’t go cakey or majorly creasy and it lasts so well under the eyes. How comparable is it to shape tape? Well on one instance, I wore shape tape under one eye and too faced on the other and they definitely look very very similar. Too faced has slightly more coverage to me and is slightly less thick. I feel like I do like too faced a tiny bit more but that really could be just due to the fact that the too faced concealer is easier to get. For tarte shape tape it’s only available on the tarte site, a minimum of $90 AUD spend AND that site takes 2 weeks to ship. The too faced one is definitely amazing and I’ll be definitely repurchasing it a long with shape tape (though too faced more because it’s easier to get) – you can never have too many Holy Grail concealers in my opinion!
When I first tried this mascara – I wasn’t blown away by it. I mean it was nice but it wasn’t “Dramatic” enough for me. Recently I have started playing with it again and I can’t believe I didn’t love this mascara – I’ve definitely become obsessed! It gives the lashes a fluffy look with one coat as well as lots of volume. When I build up this mascara it looks so dramatic and flares out your lashes while still giving them lots of length! This mascara is basically long & thick lashes in a tube. Some may find it a bit too “spidery” for them when they build it up but I love lots and lots of drama on my lashes! The current one I have is a small size I got from Sephora for 100 points – I’ll definitely be getting a full size as soon as I finish this one up!
This primer is said to be a dupe for the too faced hangover-X primer. Now I own that primer and I really like it though it hasn’t blown me away. So if there is an affordable alternative to it I’m keen because while I enjoy the product I don’t find it worthy of the price tag! First off, the pro prime & hydrate primer smells very similar to the too faced one, that coconut scent. In addition to this, they have a very very similar texture, a silky moisturizer feel that smoothes nicely over the skin. It feels like a moisturizer that sits nicely under the skin. The two products are definitely super similar!
I’m not going to lie – this was a pricey AF highlighter kit considering the size and that one is a bronze shade that will have to be used as an eye shadow. This purchase was definitely a ‘Treat yo self’ one and seeing everyone have it and the fact that Tati raved about it – I had to have it. The good thing is I got this when Sephora was having their 20% of sale so the price was slightly slashed. The highlighters are super glowy, gorgeous and I love it. Though I won’t lie I have so many other highlighters in my collection (both super affordable and a little less than the Dior one – that I kind of like more).
That wraps up this post! Have you tried any of the products mentioned in today’s post? Drop a comment and let’s have a chat! I hope you have an awesome day and I’ll see you in the next post.
