The Too Faced ‘Born this way’ Foundation

Hey hey hey!

Its review time and I am going down foundation lane today for you guys. I find that base products are the most important to review because there are so many more factors involved in whether or not you are going to like the product. Of course even when you hear praises about a foundation there is always a chance that it still may not work for you. But that’s why we read tons of reviews AND get samples.

So let’s jump into the review.

What are the claims of this foundation?: It claims to have medium-full coverage, to be undetectable on the skin and that it is oil free.

Does it deliver on its claims?: It definitely lives up to its claims! I love the awesome coverage it gives and that fact that it really is undetectable on the skin. I also know from other bloggers who have oily skin types, they too love wearing this foundation so it definitely is oil free.

Coverage level?: The coverage of this foundation I’d say is medium coverage but it can easily be built up to full coverage.

Skin types appropriate for this foundation: I have dry/dehydrated skin with a shiny t-zone and a very oily nose. This foundation works wonderfully for my skin. I can’t comment on how effective this foundation would be on oily skin types. Combination skin could make it work but if you are of very oily skin you’d either need a primer, setting spray and setting powder combo to make it work for you. This foundation is also oil free. Also I have heard some bloggers with oily skin types enjoy this foundation a lot – so it is possible!

Longevity: It lasts a very good amount of time, easily over 8 hours and it still looks good at the end of the day. Of course going in with products like a setting spray or a long lasting primer will boost it even more. I will say that in humid/ warm weather this foundation may not last long. I personally wear the smash box 15 hour wear hydrating foundation when I want sweat proof makeup.

Application: It goes on fairly easy. I apply this with a brush and bounce the beauty blender over my face afterwards to further blend it out. It looks flawless and undetectable and you won’t pull a muscle trying to blend it before it sets. It sets nicely but it doesn’t happen too quickly.

Packaging: Standard foundation packaging. It’s a frosted glass bottle and it comes with a pump – no issues packaging wise.

How much product do you get?: You get 30 mls of product which is the standard for a foundation.

Formula: The formula is super creamy and blendable. It’s easy to apply you get a good amount of play time before it sets. I don’t notice that it oxidizes for me. It doesn’t settle into pores or look cakey. It literally looks undetectable on the skin as it promises. It basically makes you appear as though you have flawless skin. Most foundations make you look a bit funny when you are only wearing foundation this one gives you that illusion that you aren’t wearing foundation which I think is some kind of voodoo magic!

Who would love this foundation?: If you love a good amount of coverage, non-cakey foundations, easy to blend and hydrating this foundation is for you.

Who wouldn’t love this foundation?: I think if you really struggle with getting your foundation to last a long time you may not be crazy about this one. I will say get a sample because you never know, it is oil free after all.

Shade range: There are over 18 shades available for this foundation which is pretty good. They do have a few shades for fair skin but depending on how fair you are there is a chance some of you may not find a shade that matches. That comes with the territory of being very pale. I feel you guys.

Price: $57

Availability: Mecca Cosmetica (either online or in store) You can get a sample in store which I highly recommend.

Rating: 9.5 / 10

Overall thoughts: I honestly love this foundation. Is there anything better than medium to full coverage that looks undetectable on the skin? I mean I also want to get a paler shade as in summer time I do get a bit tan and the one I have only suits me when I am tan so I need a second one so when my skin tone is all over the place I can vary the shade while still keeping the formula pure.

Would I repurchase this?: Definitely!

And that wraps up this review! Have you guys tried this foundation? What are your thoughts? What foundations have you been loving? Drop a comment and let’s get chatting. I hope you guys all have an awesome day and I’ll see you in the next post.

This sounds like a foundation that would work for me – it ticks all the boxes! So far I’ve been using the Maybelline Fit Me Hydrate and Matte Poreless, as well as L’Oreal Pro Glow. I do get a bit oily in the tzone but find anytime I use a matte foundation it gets cakey on me.

If I was forced to only choose one foundation, this would definitely be it. Ooh I love the L’Oréal pro glow foundation!

“you won’t pull a muscle trying to blend it before it sets” love it, haha 🙂 . I’m currently loving the Makeup Revolution stick foundation with The Ordinary primer as a base. It’s lovely to hear someone commenting honestly on the shade range, being the ample shade of ‘Casper the Ghost’ I am! Thank you lovely.

We’ve all had those foundations that have been a pain in the butt when it comes to blending haha. Shade range is essentially the makeup or break when it comes to foundation. I need to try the new makeup revolution liquid foundation being that I’m already obsessed with the concealer version

I have tried this foundation when it first was launched. It’s a nice foundation I personally don’t use it just because I don’t like to wear foundation but I love using it on other people when I do their makeup
