Nyx ‘Stay Matte Not Flat’ Powder Foundation

Good morning beautiful humans! As it’s time for another review I thought I’d go down Nyx lane as it’s one of my favourite drugstore brands. This little multi-use product has been in the rotation quite frequently lately, so I thought that I’d chat to you guys about it!

Let’s jump right in!

What are the claims of this powder? This powder claims to give you a flawless, matte complexion.

Does it deliver? It definitely does give you a matte finish without making the complexion look dry or crusty. I don’t use this powder as a foundation but rather to set my foundation. It does a great job at that because it provides that extra coverage over foundation to give a flawless finish. I especially like to use this powder when using a BB cream, CC cream or light coverage foundation. I also like to use this powder to set my eyelids after priming.

Skin types appropriate for this powder: Normal to oily/combo skin tones. (I don’t have oily skin so I can’t comment on the longevity capabilities of this powder on peeps with oily skin).

Does it look detectable/cakey? Considering my skin types is on the dehydrated side, it doesn’t look overly powdery or cakey. When I apply this powder, I lightly dust my face with it and don’t pack on a heavy amount so I am sure that helps as well.

Does it keep your makeup in place? It definitely keeps your makeup from transferring and slipping around the face as well as delay the oil build up in my t-zone

Finish: Matte

Shade range? This powder comes in 8 shades

Packaging: A somewhat sleek black compact.

How much product do you get? 7.5g

Formula: This powder has a soft and smooth texture. It glides onto the skin and doesn’t dry out your complexion or start to feel tight throughout the day. It’s also finely milled and doesn’t bunch or cake up.

Pros: Doesn’t look cakey on the skin, has a soft matte finish, gives good coverage (so perfect to layer over a light coverage foundation for some extra oomph. It has a decent shade range and is also affordable.

Cons: It may be on the way to being discontinued.

Price?: $18 AUD

Availability: Feel unique, Priceline, Ulta (I have a feeling it’s on its way to being discontinued.)

Rating: 7.5/10

Overall thoughts?: This is a lovely setting powder. It does the job without making the complexion look cakey and crusty. I love to it comes with coverage which makes it handy when you still want to wear a natural foundation but boost it up a little bit!

Would I repurchase this? No as I have so many setting powders to use up and this possibly will be discontinued soon!

And that wraps up this review! Have you guys tried this powder or any base products from Nyx? What are your favourites? Be sure to name them in the comments below. I hope you all have a wonderful day and I’ll see you in the next post.

I’ve not heard or seen this powder before. Sad to hear it may be discontinued soon as it does sound like a nice product

It really is but knowing nyx and their massive range they’ll relaunch something similar.
