Happy New Year gorgeous humans
So today I wanted to talk to y’all about this little highlighter kit from makeup revolution – a brand that knows how to make amazing highlighters at a bargain price!
So enough chit chat, let’s roll!
What are the shades like? Many of the highlighters in this kit are varying tones of champagne. One shade is a more pale peach tone and another is a yellowish-vanilla shade. The eighth shade is a dark bronzer colour.
Is it glittery or tacky? No, these highlighters give a wet/beam effect on the skin, super flattering.
Are you able to highlight with all the shades? I’m able to highlight with all the shades except for the dark bronze. I like to dip my brush in many of them. Those who are very fair skinned my find the last Colum of the highlighter kit to be too dark for them but you can always use them as eyeshadow!
Formula: The formula of these highlighters are super smooth and glide onto the skin without creating any powderyness or texture.
Pigmentation: The highlighters are quite pigmented but not to the extent where you get more pigment than actual glow. Aside from the darker bronze shade, all the other highlighters create a “beam of light” effect on the skin rather than giving the cheekbones colour. The pale peach/pink shade will give you a super subtle hue of pink to the skin – nothing to obvious or unflattering.
Do they show up in photos? Yes they do, if you first go in with the middle shades in this highlighter kit and them top it off with the vanilla/yellow shade – you’ll get an extra pop of colour.
Are they good for night time wear? When I wear this highlighter kit for night time wear I definitely go in more with the first two shades (first column) as they are the most intense.
Price: $15 AUD
Pros: soft and smooth formula – that’s non chalky, not overly powdery. All but one of the shades are super wearable on my light skin tone and two of them are extra intense and give that blinding effect. Did I mention this highlighter kit is an absolute bargain?! Also if you spritz your highlighter brush with a setting spray such as Mac fix + – the glow factor doubles!
Cons: I don’t have any major complaints I do wish when using a brush it would pick up more product – but it’s probably for my own good so I don’t go overboard with highlighter.
Who may not like it? I feel like if you are on the extra pale spectrum – you will only find about 3 of the 8 shades wearable.
Overall thoughts: I really enjoy this highlighter kit and as I write this I’m scolding myself for not using it often enough (my fault for having the world’s largest highlighter collection). I mean look how pretty it is – this is definitely one of the top picks from the makeup revolution highlighters. I give it two thumbs up!
Would I repurchase? If I manage to “use this up” with my big ass highlighter collection then maybe.
And that wraps up this review! Have you guys tried this highlighter kit from makeup revolution or any of the highlighters? What did you try? Drop a comment and let’s have a chat! I hope you all have brilliant day and I’ll catch up with you shortly in the next post!
