Pixi ‘Rose Flash’ Balm

For those of you following me on Instagram, you would have noticed that I have a major love for pixie beauty … I have literally loved every single product I’ve tried from them. As you guys know, here on The Makeup Aficionado, you can expect A LOT of reviews – after all I am a makeup addict so I may as well turn it to good use right?!

So today I’m going to chat to use about a pixie beauty product – the rose flash balm!

Let’s get started!

What is the purpose of this product? This nifty little thing by Pixie is essentially a 3 in 1 product. It’s a moisturizer, primer and a face mask. So you get a multitude of uses out of it. Of course you can choose what to use this product for if you don’t want to use it for all 3 purposes. This balm is designed to intensely hydrate the skin as well as brighten and revitalize it.

Targeted skin type: For all skin types – if you essentially need hydration it would benefit you as a primer. If you need longevity + oil control from a primer – using this a moisturizer and/or face mask would make better sense to you guys.

Facts about this product: Paraben free, not tested on animals,

How to use this product? Apply a thick layer over the skin when using it as a face mask. Leave it on for 5-10 minutes and do this 2-3 times a week. You can apply a thin layer underneath makeup, patting it into the skin – do not rub it.

Packaging: A squeezy tube packaging – product comes out easily and with no mess!

Formula: Though this product is a balm it almost has a gel-moisturizer texture to it. It’s super light-weight and smoothes over the skin super easily. It doesn’t have a tacky/stick feel to it and makeup works well over it.

Does it aid in enhancing the longevity of your foundation? Not it doesn’t, it has more hydration purposes. It doesn’t cause your foundation to slip and slide or work against your foundation in any way.

Does it blur pores?: Not it doesn’t

Does the foundation sit well on top?: Yes! Considering this product is technically in the skincare category it works so well as a primer. It isn’t greasy (doesn’t cause foundation to break up) and it isn’t sticky, it has the SLIGHTEST tackiness to it – that works in favour of foundation and keeps it from moving around.

Price: $38 AUD

Availability: Cult beauty, skincare store, ry.com.au, David jones, Pixi beauty site, Glam raider

How much product are you given: You get 40 ml of product – more than the typical 30 ml

Pros: Super hydrating, light-weight, is a multi-tasking product you can use in many different ways, doesn’t have a sticky or greasy feel to it. Works very well underneath makeup! It’s also readily available on so many different sites as you can see!

Cons: I don’t have any major complaints about this product. Us Aussies only have access to it online and it’s slightly pricey but that’s just because cosmetics are always pricey in Australia so we’re use to it.

Rating: 8/10

Overall thoughts: This is such an awesome product! I love how multi-purpose it is and how it does all 3 jobs wonderfully. It’s incredibly hydrating and works amazingly well as a primer. I love using this product and I’m happy to have discovered it. This gets two thumbs up from me!

Would I repurchase it?: I’m definitely planning to repurchase this product. I’m loving it as a primer!

And that wraps up this review! Have you guys tried the Pixi rose flash balm? What were your thoughts? What other pixi products have you been loving? Drop them in the comments and tell me what you thought about them. I hope you all have an awesome day and I’ll catch up with you guys in the next post!

I’m really interested to see how this works – I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a product that is both mask & primer. Definitely worth looking into!

I know right, those two categories are basically worlds apart but you essentially slather on a thick layer for it to be a mask and apply a little bit and work it into the skin for a primer. It feels like a moisturizer.

This product sounds really interesting and quite like the Too Faced Hangover Rx primer, actually. It’s definitely going on my wishlist!

I’d say the revolution pro prime and hydrate is more of a dupe for the too faced hangover primer, but this pixi one is a similar concept.

This ointment is very good! It is perfect for skin care, but can also be used as a primer for makeup. You can use it as a moisturizer that is applied to a thin layer and use as a primer, but do not just rub it with a pat or apply as a mask and apply a thick layer and rinse for 5-10 minutes. It’s very very moisturizing and I always use it when my skin feels lifeless or tired. This is an incredible product and I don’t understand why people don’t talk more.

This sounds like a winner! I have Pixi Retinol Toner in my list to buy and if I get along with that, then I might give this a try.

I’ve heard the retinol toner is so gentle and not strong enough compared to other retinol products but I’m still curious about it. I’m the most eager to try their Vitamin C tonic. x
