Good morning you gorgeous bunch of humans! So it’s time for another round of telling y’all about the new makeup I’ve been trying. It may be 2019 the year of a low-buy where I finally control my makeup spending (but don’t fret you’ll still be getting these posts and this post and the next are still products I purchased in 2018 – I’m a little behind with these posts and I don’t want to post them too close together!
Okay I am going to jump right in now! Let’s go!
When I first tried this highlighter kit I thought it was too subtle! I blame it on the bad lighting in my room that never shows the true potential of a highlighter. Fast forward a little while later and I decided to test it out again. I’m actually really liking this highlighter kit! I wouldn’t say it gives you the most blinding highlight but for day-time
One of my blogger friends frequently raved about this product and being that I have become a massive fan of too faced I couldn’t resist. I was sceptical to think this would work as a bronzer because it has a lot of pink BUT it totally does. It works as an awesome pigmented bronzer (low-key as a contour only because it sculpts the face really well) and when you apply it over the cheeks you look flushed! Although it has a radiant finish it isn’t in a shimmery way it has the most subtle sheen to it even. I’m a big fan of this product.
I am a long-time fan when it comes to the formula of T
As I mentioned above, I’m obsessed with the Tarte eye shadow formula and this palette is filled with many gorgeous eye shadows – a better variety in creating lots of eye looks and there isn’t one shade I wouldn’t use. It also comes with a blush, bronzer and highlighter. The blush and bronzer I have slightly mixed feelings about only because I feel like they have quite a lot of fall out – more than I am use to from a blush and bronzer and that can make blending tricky! BUT the highlighter has me shook! It’s so intense, glowy, stunning and it’s my kind of intense (which means your highlight can be seen from spice). I don’t think Tarte highlighters get as much hype as they deserve.
I am a massive fan of the Huda beauty eye shadow formula and I own quite a few of these obsession palettes. This palette is on the warm toned side as well but of course with more coral tones (as the name suggests doy!). I have loved playing with this palette, I’ve literally created one of my favourite eye looks and it came straight from this itty bitty palette. The matte shades work cohesively together in the crease and you get two shimmery shadows that a versatile with a variety of looks. The coral shades are also super easy to use – not scary at all! This one is a goodie!
There are so many highlighters from makeup revolution that I love but this one is definitely at the top of the list. I knew I’d love it before I purchased it because quite a few people raved about it (including tati from Glam Life Guru). Two words – blinding highlight! That sums up this palette, of course if you dip your brush in more than one shade you can make tone down the highlight slightly. The formula of these highlighters feel a little baked as they have more of a frosted finish but they don’t look glittery and tacky on the skin. This highlighter kit just gives you a mega noticeable beam of light on the face!
You guys know how I feel about Maybelline mascaras! They truly slay the game when it comes to giving us mega long & voluminous lashes. This one is no exception, it flares out your lashes giving length and fullness while avoiding clumpyness. I also find the formula of the mascara to be quite light weight so your curl holds up better. Ps. I do notice this mascara to be slightly tricky to remove. My makeup removing method is always the same – (cleansing oil, cleanse and then micellar water). Usually after the cleansing oil my eye makeup (including mascara) is already gone but with this mascara there is still quite a lot left – so bare that in mind.
Too faced ‘Gingerbread Spice’ Palette (Limited edition – Holiday collection)
I knew I needed this palette in my life as soon as my eyes landed on it! I waited about 7 weeks before it launched and snapped it up within minutes. I’m not usually someone who wakes up early, sets an alarm to make an order but this palette was glorious, limited edition and just stunning. Up until this palette I hadn’t tried any too faced eye shadow palettes as they never really appealed to me. The shades in this one are warm but not samey-same like my other hundreds of warm tone palettes. The shades are pigmented, blendable and glorious! The packaging is also cute AF – okay I’ll stop now.
The original naked palettes (1, 2 and 3) from urban decay never appealed to me. The naked heat palette did appeal to me but not enough for me to get it straight away. I basically went from no urban decay palettes to 2 in one go! This particular cherry palette while at first didn’t excite me eventually made me fold. (I blame constantly seeing it on Instagram and it’s pretty packaging) – I’m not made because the shades are gorgeous and I’m really starting to dig the cranberry vibes. The shadows are pigmented and work well. I will say that formula of Urban decay isn’t anything special compared to brands like ABH, Huda and Tarte (which are my top 3).
There hasn’t been a product I’ve tried from Pixi that I didn’t love! I haven’t tried much makeup from them and especially their eyeshadows but this palette definitely caught my attention and Glam raider were having a 20% sale so I folded big time! Every shade is shimmery – two are more satin like and of course all shimmery palettes don’t exactly make a one stop shop for palettes but every shade is gorgeous and I don’t have many all shimmery eye shadow palettes so I couldn’t resist. I love every single shade in this palette as a lid shade!
I already own the YSL ‘Touche eclat’ blur primer and when tati mentioned she preferred the Gurlain primer it got me curious. I do love the YSL one but I wish it were more hydrating (it has a silicone feel to it). The Gurlain primer has more of a liquid serum feel to it, it’s definitely more hydrating but still does an awesome job at smoothing out the skin and it won’t make you look greasy!
This was a low-key impulse purchase (which basically means I didn’t pine over it for 6 months straight). It also happened to look gorgeous, contain warm tones and you guys know I can’t resist pretty palettes that are also
Jaclyn Hill said this setting powder was awesome so of course my sheepish ass had to go and get it. It actually took me ages to get my hands on it as not long after her video it was constantly sold out in Sephora – no surprise there. Not to be cheesy but it really is the perfect powder. It locks everything in place without making your skin look dry or powdery or feel tight or crusty. Everything looks smooth, flawless and locked in place!
Last but definitely not least is of course the naked heat palette – I couldn’t choose between this or the cherry palette so I had a totally taco commercial moment – and I got booth *throws party*. The shades are heavenly, right up my alley and there isn’t a single shade I wouldn’t use. As a lover of warm tones I feel like it’s my duty to have this palette in my collection.
And that wraps up another round of ‘makeup I’ve been trialling’. Have you guys tried any of the products mentioned in today’s post? What makeup have you tried recently? Drop a comment and let’s have a chat! I hope you all have a great day and I’ll see you in the next post.
