Morphe ’35 Taupe’ Palette

Good morning you wonderful humans! It’s time for a review and I have a thing for Morphe eye shadow palettes (despite the brand being a little bit controversial) – I’ve personally loved all the products that I’ve tried from them so far. Now I’m sure by now you realise I have a thing for warm toned eye shadow palettes so today’s review is special. We are going to chat about a cool/taupe eye shadow palette – repeat – cool/taupe. This isn’t a drill and no this blog hasn’t been hacked by a lover of cool tones.

So I’m going to cut my chit chat and jump straight into the review.

Let’s go!

Shade range: The shade range of this palette is clearly in the cool tone zone! There are taupes, bronzes plum/browns. It’s out of the range I usually go for but I surprisingly get a lot of pretty eye looks with this palette being that there are so many options, only some are on the greyish undertone side. I find that there are many bronze/golden shimmery shade options that keep the overall eye look from being too cool toned for this warm toned lover and allow this palette to still be wearable in the day time.

Row 1

Row 2
Row 3
Row 4
Row 5

Pigmentation: All the shades are delightfully pigmented and I haven’t run across any shades that don’t work.

Fall out? I hardly notice any fall out, this palette doesn’t force me to do my eye makeup first before foundation – so the fall out is definitely not extreme.

Do they blend well?: The shadows are very soft and blend quite easily, the shimmery shades are more buttery while I do wish the matte shades were a bit more rich and buttery (but they still are useable and don’t create any issues).

Finish of the shades (how many mattes & shimmers: There are 9 matte shades in this palette and 16 shimmer shades and 11 satin shades. So you don’t have a lot of matte options but at the same time you don’t need too many mattes, all the bases are covered and the satin shades don’t look too shimmery when you apply them in the crease.

Versatility (Can this palette be used day and night?): This palette can definitely be transitioned from day to night. I do feel like you’ll have many more options with creating night looks but I rarely do my makeup at night (hello hermit life) and I’ve found I’m still using this for day time makeup. I love how many shimmer options there are and they all work well for day time looks

Is the palette a good option for beginners?: In regards to formula (and of course price range) I do feel like Morphe palettes are awesome for those new to makeup/new to eye shadow. I would say out of the MANY palettes morphe make, this one wouldn’t be the ideal one to start with if you are new to eye shadow as there are quite a lot of dark shade options (difficult to use if you are only learning to use eye shadow). But at the same time I’ve run into more complex palettes so this wouldn’t be extremely difficult for the makeup rookies.

Packaging: Sleek black plastic case – No mirror.

Availability: Morphe Site

Price: $35 AUD (35 shades for $35 – BARGAIN alert!)

Pros: you get a lot of shade options, the shades are wearable and provide you options for day and night looks. The shadows are wonderfully pigmented and blendable. The palette is incredibly affordable (especially considering how many shades you get) and the eye shadow pans themselves are deliciously large.

Cons: Not as many transition shades as I’d like but still a good 3-4 options, and I do wish the mattes were a little more richer/creamy. This isn’t an issue for me, but I know many who find these palettes too large and the choices too overwhelming as well.

Rating: 7.5/10

Overall thoughts: I love this palette. Considering it’s cool toned galore it’s still wearable and filled with many many options that give you a non-warm toned eye look without it being far too cool toned and unwearable on me. I love having this in a collection to add some diversity in the sea of warm toned palettes I own, and the shimmers in this palette are so freaking gorgeous! This palette is one to check out.

Would I repurchase? I feel like by the time I actually hit pan on the majority of the shades in this palette, I’ll be an old lady but I really do like it so it’s a possible maybe.

And that wraps up this review! Have you guys tried out this palette or any of the morphe palettes? Are you into cool toned or warm tones? Do you try and like both? Drop a comment and let’s have a chat about it! I hope you all have a lovely day and I’ll see you in the next post!

I mainly wear warm tones but started to get into some cool toned looks before Christmas and am liking them, but not enough to buy a palette this size. Great value for money though! xx

I get you, sometimes I do crave something less warm-toned. I only own two of these larger morphe palettes, this size isn’t something I’d purchase again. I’m happy they are coming out with smaller palettes, some of which are really appealing to me.

I’m definitely more of a cool toned fan! This is a nice collection of neutrals. I’ve never owned a Morphe palette before!

I like the colours, especially Row 3 but it doesn’t look like that much of a cohesive palette, are you able to create quite a lot of looks out of it? I do love taupe though. Great post and swatches, thank you for sharing Bernadette, hope you had a good Monday xxx

I actually can create a lot of different looks, some of the shades are samey same (the transition shades especially) I don’t mind that because I hit pan of transition shades quickly. x

I have this palette and need to get it back out. I enjoy Morphe palettes and pick and choose what I want to support from them. You inspired me to use this palette.

Exactly! I like having a lot of options in the one spot, it’s easier than whipping out several palettes and this is a good one. x
