Rimmel ‘Stay Matte’ Powder

Hey there gorgeous humans!

You would think with all the reviews I do that I would have talked about this product already, seeing as not only is it a cult favourite but I’ve loved it for years! So today I’m going to rectify that blunder and tell you guys about the best touch up powder ever. This says a lot because I’m so lazy when it comes to touching up my makeup throughout the day.

So let’s cut the chit chat and jump straight into the review!

What are the claims of this powder?: Claims to contain natural minerals to minimise the appearance of pores, and give a smooth, shine free finish.

Does it deliver? Yes it does. It definitely removes any shine that appears throughout the day without making you look cakey or your complexion flat!

Skin types appropriate for this powder: All skin types could use this powder. I have dehydrated skin but my t-zone is really oily so this powder is a must for my t-zone, especially when it comes to touching it up throughout the day.

Does it look detectable/cakey? No it looks virtually undetectable even when you reapply it when touching up your makeup throughout the day.

Does it keep your makeup in place? This powder helps control shine and when you apply it during your makeup application it will definitely delay the oils that cause your makeup to break up in certain areas.

Finish: Matte

Shade range? This powder comes in 3 shades, one of them being translucent.

Packaging: A simple plastic compact with a clear lid.

Formula: Smooth, finely milled, non-chalky.

Pros: The powder is finely milled, goes smooth on the skin, and controls oil well. You can use it to touch up throughout the day and not look cakey. It’s also super affordable and it doesn’t look detectable on the skin when you use it.

Cons: The packaging feels cheap and it can break easily.

Who wouldn’t like this?: If you don’t get any kind of shine whatsoever, this powder won’t be for you.

Price?: $11.95 AUD

Availability: Priceline, Woolworths, Chemist Warehouse, BigW, Feel unique

Rating: 9/10

Overall thoughts?: This is the only setting powder I’ve ever used up so that already tells you this powder is quite special. It is my holy grail for touching up my t-zone throughout the day and I use nothing else for touching up makeup but this product. It instantly freshens up my t-zone, gets ride of shine without making me look cakey no matter how many times I touch up – I freaking love it!

Would I repurchase this? This is my second one and I’ll definitely continue to repurchase it.

And that wraps up this post! Have you guys tried this cult favourite powder by Rimmel? What were your thoughts? What setting powder do you stand by? Drop a comment and let’s have a chat! As always I hope you all have a great day and I’ll see you in the next post.

I only use this as a touch-up powder on my t-zone. It isn’t drying or harsh but it’s great for any shiny areas.

This is good to know! I’ve never tried this one before. I used to swear by NYX’s HD Finishing Powder (pressed), but it’s becoming increasingly difficult to find where I live which is such a bummer.

Nyx has been discontinuing quite a few things lately. This powder from rimmel is a classic for me.

Matte skin is my life, my everything. This powder is amazing for that! I use the shade translucent, mainly because my skin is 5 different colours throughout the year. It actually does a really good job of keeping oil and shine away and mattifies instantly. It’s the best!
