Hello there you fabulous bunch of people! It’s time to get our sparkle on with this highlighter review I am throwing at you guys. Metaphorically speaking, I wouldn’t throw anything at you lovely bunch.
Now I am sure you have heard about this highlighter kit. It definitely has had a lot of buzz surrounding it.
Does it work with many skin tones?: I think it does. Now I’d say for those who have a very very fair skin tone or who have a more sun-kissed, deeper skin tone – there is a risk it may not be super versatile. I do still find it to be flexible with skin tones. I personally like to dab my brush in all three of the powder highlighters when I wear it.
The shade ‘subsolar’ is the off white yellow/white highlighter. (great for those with fair skin). The shade ‘Equinox’ is the champagne/beige shade. It’s gorgeous, wearable and very versatile. The shade ‘Hemisphere’ is the lavender tone. Now don’t be put off by its color it’s still very wearable and doesn’t make you look purple/lavender. You just get the faintest lavender hew to the cheekbones and if you mix all the shades together, it isn’t noticeable all that much. Finally, the shade Ecliptic is a cream champagne beige tone. I personally don’t reach for it all that much. I can’t seem to get myself to use cream highlighters much.
Is it overly glittery?: I don’t find it overly glittery. I find it to be a rare feature in drugstore highlighters because either they on the subtle side or they are tacky and glittery. There usually isn’t any in between. BUT this highlighter kit gives you a gorgeous beam of glowyness!
Is it too natural?: No, it’s not the type of highlight you can see from space but it’s definitely more than just a very natural highlighter. Often I find those highlighters boring and this highlighter kit is definitely not boring!
Is it available in many shades?: There are three highlighter kits from Sleek. On top of the Solstice highlighter kit, there is the precious metals highlighter kit and the new Cleopatra highlighter kit. I am yet to pick up the Cleopatra kit but I definitely will be doing so!
Day or night appropriate?: It works for both!
Where is it best for applying on the face? I love applying it to the cheekbones. The shade Subsolar can also be used on the brow bone and inner corner.
Price: $16.98 AUD on feel unique, the sleek site and crush cosmetics sells the kit for $25 AUD
Formula?: It’s quite a smooth formula, doesn’t look overly powdery or chalky on the skin and there isn’t any annoying fallout.
Highlighter on fleek? I think so! I’m quite picky with what highlighters I reach for and considering I reach for this a lot that speaks volumes! The packaging is pretty!
Pros: Gives you a beautiful glow, the shades are versatile. You get 4 highlighters in one kit for a good price!
Cons: The cream highlighter in the kit is average at best. While the packaging is pretty, it’s hard to keep the packaging clean and fingerprint clean.
Overall thoughts: This is a very lovely highlighter kit! It gives a beautiful glow, very versatile with the shades and is just overall a gorgeous highlighter with a reasonable price point. I have no complaints about it though I wish the cream highlighter was another powder highlighter.
Would I repurchase?: I would I really enjoy this highlighter kit but it’s not the type I’d back up or repurchase immediately.
And that wraps up this review! Have you guys tried this highlighter kit by Sleek or any of the three they have? What are your thoughts? Are you more of a cream or powder highlighter type of person? Drop a comment and let’s get talking. I hope you all have an awesome day, I love you guys and I’ll see you in the next post!
