Good morning you gorgeous humans! It’s pretty obvious by now that I have a major obsession with high end setting powders. I never use to own many setting powders in general, it was a category I use to find boring. Let’s just say now I’m constantly finding setting powders to try and the high-end category has so many dang good ones it’s insane.
So today I wanted to talk about one of my favourite powders I’ve so far tried!
Let’s jump right in!
What are the claims of this powder? This powder claims to be talc-free, ultra-translucent and set makeup for all-day wear while giving the skin a soft-focused airbrushed finish. It also claims to be light-weight, minimize foundation transfer and not add any colour to the skin or overpowering the finish of your foundation. This powder is also said to be perfect for ‘baking’, contains light-diffusing particles that blur and smooth the skin without looking dry or chalky. It also claims to come in two universal shades.
Does it deliver? Oh yes, it absolutely does! It locks in your makeup and gives a smooth, flawless finish. You don’t look powder, dusty or cakey and it doesn’t make the overall complexion look heavy. It’s quite hydrating under the eyes and doesn’t leave the skin feeling tight or dry.
Skin types appropriate for this powder: I feel like an array of skin types would love this powder. It isn’t drying so those with a dry/dehydrated skin type can use it but I also know those with oily/combo skin who love this powder.
Does it look detectable/cakey?. No. It gives you a smooth, hydrated canvas without a chalky complexion.
Does it keep your makeup in place? Yes. It locks everything in, including under-eye concealer and I find that it delays the oiliness of my t-zone which is always a plus/ and my makeup doesn’t slip or slide around whenever I use this powder.
Finish: Soft diffused matte, but it doesn’t look flat.
Shade range? This powder comes in two universal shades – one for light skin tones and one for deeper skin tones.
How much product do you get? 10 g
Packaging: Typical loose powder packaging with a screw off lid.
Formula: The formula of this powder is light-weight, fine and non-drying. It smoothes over the skin and doesn’t make the complexion look heavy, cakey or dry.
Pros: Locks in makeup so well, gives the complexion a very smooth/flawless finish, isn’t drying, cakey or heavy.
Cons: You only get 10 g of product.
Who wouldn’t like this? Aside from the fact that I wish it came with more product, I can’t fault this powder. Not to be cheesy but it really is the perfect setting powder!
Price?: $51 AUD
Overall thoughts?: This has got to be one of my favourite high-end powders that I’ve tried to date! It just ticks all the boxes – makeup lasts all day, it has a smooth finish, doesn’t look cakey or feels drying. It isn’t easy for me to find powders that boost the wear time of my foundation without making me look cakey – this is one of those powders. Also, the fact that it’s a talc-free setting powder (which isn’t easy to find) makes it a winner in my eyes!
Would I repurchase this? YES!
And that wraps up this review! Have you guys tried this powder or any Cover FX makeup? What were your thoughts? Drop a comment and let’s have a chat! I hope you all have a great day and I’ll see you in the next post.
