Current Beauty Favorites

When I think of current favorites – I immediately get stuck on what to pick. I’m the kind of gal that has serious commitment issues when it comes to makeup. By calling a product a favorite does it immediately cast shade on the others in that category?

I have such a vast amount of favorites that I could go on and on and on. After all, if I’ve kept the product in my collection, obviously I like it! So let me just go on to say that with the products I talk about today, it doesn’t mean these are the only ones I love or that I won’t gain new favorites in the distant future.

Let’s redefine ‘current favorites’ to mean products I’ve been reaching for quite frequently lately / have made an impression on me / I think you need to hear about ASAP rather than wait for an in-depth review.

Remember back in the early blogging days where the trend was to do ‘monthly’ favorites? Yeah, that doesn’t work for me because the expectation to post them at the beginning of the month / try enough new makeup to keep things interesting is silly.

You’ll get this type of post sporadically when I feel like there’s an interesting list of newish – products I want to talk to you about because I am truly trying to not buy a ridiculous amount of makeup.

That intro went on for longer then I intended but we’re in too deep to backtrack now (even though the backspace button on my keyboard does exist).

Fenty cream bronzer – butter biscuit

Seriously the most perfect bronzer shade ever. It melts into the skin easily, gives you a bronzed complexion without looking muddy or orange. You can build it up easily and it’s user friendly. Those with fair skin or new to cream makeup (or maybe just cream bronzer) will love this one. I have an extra small cream bronzer collection and the reason is that I love this one so much there isn’t any need to try more.

Kosas ‘reveal creamy’ concealer

This is the most hydrating and creamy concealer I’ve ever tried! Usually when they are this hydrating the crease like a MOFO on me but surprisingly the creasing is minimal. It has quite a flexible formula and moves along with the natural movements of your face without crunching. It’s also a cruelty-free brand and filled with lots of good ingredients.

Natasha Denona ‘Bronze” palette

Eyeshadows from this brand are such a guilty pleasure for me but this palette is 10000% worth it. Firstly, hello warm tones – all I ever wear and the pigmentation is out of this world. I do wish there were a few more mattes in this palette but it borders near perfection.

Lamer ‘soft fluid long wear’ foundation

It kills me that the foundation is so eye-wateringly expensive but you only need to try it once to figure out why. Firstly, its wear time is insane! You will look as though it’s been freshly applied – all freaking day. Even if you have combination skin like I do (shout out to those with an oily t-zone that feel me). Secondly, it applies effortlessly – you don’t need to spend half an hour blending, it won’t look cakey or crunchy. If I had to sum it up, I’d say it gives you a second skin. It’s like your skin but flawless and natural-looking, you don’t look overdone or that you have a foundation on. For something so flawless your complexion isn’t weighed down but it looking full coverage. Oh, how I wish it didn’t cost an arm and a leg – also why must boujee brands include perfume in all their products – It’s unneeded.

Mac Glow play blushes

I rave about these cream blushes constantly! They are easily in my top 3 favorite cream blushes of all time (possibly in the number 1 spot). Think of their color pop super shock blushes but BETTER. They have this mousse-cream-to-powder sort of formula but they are definitely a cream and don’t dry into a powder or look powdery on the skin. They are sheer but buildable, look natural, so easy to apply – in fact, anyone who wants to get into cream blushes – these are what to start with. The blushes are also glowy and super pretty on the skin. I could literally go on and on about these blushes forever!

Fenty ‘matchstick glow skinstick – purl

You’ll notice a distinct pattern of raving about cream makeup products. I promise I’ve kept it light because my ode to cream makeup will be in their own dedicated posts. This highlighter feels like water on the skin! Think of a water/oil that glides over the skin but doesn’t break up your makeup?! You can even wear it underneath your foundation if you please. What I love about it is, it’s the perfect WET LOOK highlighter because the shimmer isn’t glaringly obvious. I do prefer to apply it after cream bronzer but before cream blush (as I do with all cream highlight) but it doesn’t cause your makeup to break apart after the fact. If you have a very oily skin type you possibly may not like this highlighter but I’m literally obsessed with it.

Cover FX Blush duo – Warm Honey

My love for cream blush has put me on the strictest of strict ban on buying powder blushes. I already have too many & what I have I love which has removed the need to buy new powder blushes. I think this particular one deserves a shout out because the shade is the best shade of blush I’ve ever seen. It has a matte side and a glowy side but the glowy side isn’t shimmery or sparkly, it’s more of an ethereal glow to the skin. I definitely prefer this duo over the Jouer duo by far.

Maybelline ‘The falsies lash lift’ Mascara

Is it really a surprise that a Maybelline mascara has made it’s way into my current favorites? Maybelline has got to be the best drugstore brand for mascara if not the best brand for mascara in general! All my ride or die mascaras come from this brand (with an exception to benefit mascaras). This particular one is a fairly new one and though I usually prefer mascaras with plastic wands, this is an exception. You get long, thick dramatic lashes, no gross clumping and it doesn’t transfer – keep in mind I don’t usually have issues with mascara transferring on me. This has easily become my favorite from the brand!

Nudestix cream bronzer – bondi bae

This is the other cream bronzer from my collection and I adore it. if you follow me on Instagram you’d know that I have an unhealthy addiction to nudestix – they are clearly J-LO of the cream makeup world. The shade ‘Bondi Bae’ is another one of those perfect bronzer shades that work so well on fair skin tones! The fact that it’s a cream stick also makes it easy to apply, you just draw it on and blend. I’ve even purchased a backup because it’s that good!

Colour pop super shock shadows

Last but definitely not least is a re-discovery for me! Back when color pop first got popular I tried these super shock cream shadows and loved them! Back then I wasn’t a cream makeup lover and as it goes with being a makeup hoard I didn’t use them enough and had to let them go. When I jumped on the cream makeup bandwagon I thought why not delve into cream shadows. I can safely say I’M OBSESSED. I did stick to only the shimmery cream shadows as I learned last time the matte ones dry out quickly. They apply like butter, give the lid an extra POP, and are just so awesome. I don’t know how I didn’t use them often last time because they are in frequent rotation now!

That wraps up this very long post. The ironic thing is I kept this product list very small (at least small for me) because there were a lot of other products I could easily talk about. In the spirit of this being a favorites post, it’s pointless to talk about everything.

Have you tried any of the products I’ve mentioned today? What are you current makeup favourites? I’m quite nosey so please tell me in the comments below.

That’s all for today – I’ll see you next time! x B

Oooh, some amazing product you got here! That Natasha Denona palette looks stunning, I gree it could do with a few more matte shades as I find the shimmers a bit same-same. If they didn’t all look the same I would have totally picked up this palette.

I’ve been eyeing on that Nudestix Bondi Bae stick for the longest time, but haven’t got round to picking it up. I do prefer powder formulas over creams with my oily combination skin. I do love the Fenty Match Stix for that reason as they still give off a matte finish. I particularly love their contour stick (which I believe is called Mocha) and it’s one of the few cream formulas I get on with. I love the sound of their cream bronzer but I’d personally be more interested to try their powder formula. I’ve heard great things about that one too!

So many wonderful products in this post, it’s been ages since I’ve done a proper favourites post. I used to do them every month but it gets so repetitive I feel like 🙂 Now I just do them whenever and I love that a lot more, it gives me a bit more time to properly try out new products and form an opinion on them!

This palette had me hook line and sinker. I’ve resisted the newest palette which is cool toned (I know I don’t wear cool tones often so it was easier to resist. You will love it, cream products are so incredible and also easier to pan AND look natural for everyday makeup as well as glam. I always set my creams with a corresponding powder which may seem pointless but you don’t use the effect of the cream you’re just able to make it last longer. I agree monthly doesn’t work for me plus it can push a blogger to buy new makeup too frequently (even if it’s subconscious). Thank you so much for taking the time to read the post.
