When you have an enormous (embarrassingly so) makeup collection – you try and rotate your products frequently. It’s the name of the game that many will get ignored until you rotate/shop your sash and then think why don’t I use this enough? It’s safe to say it’s not common for me to use the exact products every single time I wear my makeup. I mean hello what’s the point of buying lots of makeup if you do that?!
There is however an exception to this rule – only 2 products currently in makeup collection do I well and truly use EVERY SINGLE TIME I WEAR MAKEUP BECAUSE I CAN’T DO MY MAKEUP WITHOUT THEM. The first one I reviewed a few weeks ago (the Pixi corrector concentrate) and the second one I’ll be talking about today.
Both are in relation to the under eye area because as you guys imagine I don’t play around when it comes to covering up dark circles and reducing the creases.
So with that dramatic introduction aside, how about we get started with this review?
What does this setting powder claim to do?
This powder claims to be a super-fine, weightless loose setting powder to “perfect” and “extend” makeup wear for a “filtered & photo-ready” finish to lock. It also claims to blur the look of pores, fine lines, and imperfections for a “hype-smooth” filter. It also promises not to cake or settle into fine lines.
Does it deliver?
YES! It definitely doesn’t look detectable on the skin and makes a massive difference in boosting the longevity of your makeup. I always follow with a setting spray every time I wear makeup and because this is a matte powder that locks your makeup in – setting spray will help with the hydration. For me, while it easily works for both foundation and concealer – it has been a GAME CHANGER for setting my under eyes. The fact that I reach for this powder every single time I wear my makeup speaks volumes of how good it is. I’ve gotten to the point where when it comes to setting concealer – THIS IS THE ONLY SETTING POWDER I USE. I use my other setting powders for the face because they are so and so for concealer. I won’t say this setting powder is hydrating but setting spray does magic.
It comes in 8 shades – I have the lavender shade and adore it. This shade can still be used to set your foundation, my complexion doesn’t get a purple hue. The shade gives you a more ‘brightened’ effect but not in an overly obvious way.
Packaging / application/ease of application?
Loose powder will always have a mess facto – I’ve accepted it but we do know based on the packaging it can either be 10x worse or slightly better. I don’t have any issues with the packaging. I essentially give it a little jolt upwards and then undo the lid. It has a plastic sifter rather than mesh and your vanity will still be assaulted with powder but considering how well this powder performs – it’s worth it!
Where to purchase it?
How much does it costs?
$44 AUD (a bargain for how much product you get) – they also sell minis in a few of the shades
How much product do you get?
10/10 ! I actually
Who might not like this?
For those with extra dry skin types – be warned you may have to put some leg work into making this product work. Keeping in mind with a good skincare routine that treats your skin well, a hydrating foundation and primer, and a setting spray, even those with drier skin types can pull this off. I’m dehydrated with an oily t-zone and I adore it!
If I haven’t convinced you how much I adore this concealer then I’m a terrible blogger. Basically, it’s in daily rotation for me, if I wear any makeup glam or simple – this powder is involved. It’s helped me to weed out any iffy concealers because if I’m having a bad under eye day I know it’s the concealer’s fault because this powder is super versatile regardless of what concealer you use. My under eyes will never be a crease-proof situation but this powder reduces the concealer creasing my whole hell of a lot.
Do I recommend this to you guys & would I repurchase it?
I most definitely recommend this product to you guys. The fact that I reach for it every single time I wear any kind of makeup (when I own a stupid amount of powders) should speak volumes. This is well and truly what I now use to set my under eye concealer – no Ifs Ands or Buts about it. I do want to try one of the mini sizes in a different color (and I recommend you guys start with a mini in case you can’t get it to work for you). I just cannot say enough good things about this setting powder!
That wraps up this lengthy review! I make it a point not to dramatically rave about a product unless it’s THAT GOOD! And this one well and truly is so I’m not being a drama Llama for no reason. Have you guys tried this setting powder? What is your go-to product for setting your under-eye concealer? Drop those recommendations in the comments below. Thanks to those of you who took the time out of your day to hang out with me over here and I will catch you all next time. x B
