The Hourglass Ambient & Strobe Lighting Blushes

If there was an art museum for makeup, the hourglass blushes would 1000000% be included in said museum! I mean all you need to do is take one look at them and wonder why other brands even both making blushes. *** Cough I of course own other blushes from other brands that I love **** but these ones are just extra special.

I’m going to through a spoiler alert and say I freaking love the blushes I’ll be talking about but you guys already knew that!

So let’s get into WHY I love these blushes.

Here we go!

What are the claims of this product?

A handcrafted powder that combines customised lighting effects with hues of colour. The blushes claim to provide a soft-focused multi-dimensioned cheek color that stays glowy all day. The blushes claim to have photo-luminescent technology, paraben & fragrance-free as well as free from animal products, talc, nanoparticles, and gluten.

Do they deliver?

What these blushes essentially promise is a unique and flattering glow; they definitely do that. They have the softest smoothest feel to them when you swatch them. When you do swatch them your finger will pick up lots of sparkle BUT when applied with a brush – the glow looks so natural and pretty. Even if you aren’t into powder blushes, these are the exception!

Formula / Pigmentation / Longevity?

The formula is smooth, soft, and blendable. All the blushes are very sheer but easily build up on the skin and they do last well. Keep in mind if you keep it sheer on the cheeks it will fade quicker than if you build it up. I love layering these over a cream blush because you don’t lose the effect of the cream but your blush lasts 10x longer.

Easy to use /How does it apply?

They are one of the easiest blushes to apply! Normally, those on the ‘I hate blush’ bandwagon hate blush because it’s easy to get those “clown cheeks”. Back in my early makeup days, I was on that same makeup bandwagon; you’re going for the wrong blush if you’re looking like a clown. While we want our makeup products to be pigmented AF – blush doesn’t need to be too pigmented (in fact the ones that are suck). These blushes are super sheer but buildable – that’s the tick (buildable pigmentation). These are on the sheer side that those of a deeper skin tone will have to be extra selective with what shades they go for. I apply all powder blushes with my real techniques blush brush. You just bounce/swish over the cheeks and bam you’re done!

Shade range?

The shades are deliciously versatile. You get your pinks, corals, fuchsias, Mauves. All the shades are wearable & pretty – I do own 7 of the shades after all. This blush makes it perfect to go for those bold shades you’d normally avoid; their sheer/buildable nature makes them so easy to work with.

Shade Names (From Left) – Diffused Heat, Sublime Flush, Mecca Glow, and Luminous Flush
Shade Names (From left) – Mood Exposure, Incandescent Electra, & Iridescent flash

You get that classic sleek, shiny bronze compact that hourglass powders come in!

How much does it cost?

$64 AUD (super pricey but the best powder blushes on the market) – Also getting one of their blush palettes may be a better bang for your buck.

How much product do you get?

You get 4.2 grams of product (for the full size compacts).

Where to purchase it?

Mecca Cosmetica, Cult Beauty

Who might not like this?

If you like your blushes strictly matte and/or pigmented AF straight off the bat you may not like these. Call me bias but I am so obsessed with these blushes that I cannot imagine anyone not liking these. Of course, those of a deeper skin tone may be limited in shade selection. A few of the shades don’t show up on me if I have a tan on (this was back many years ago when I’d frequent the beach a lot).

Overall thoughts?

If you haven’t gathered by now. I freaking love these blushes. If I only could keep one powder blush in my collection I’d easily choose these! In fact, they don’t even look like powder on the skin, they’re glowy in such a subtle and pretty way. I cannot recommend these blushes enough! If you don’t own any blushes and are looking to add one to your collection, these are the blushes to consider!

Would I recommend this to you / repurchase

Hell Yes!

That wraps up this very wordy post! You just need to scroll for 5 seconds over on my Instagram feed to realize I have a serious addiction to hourglass blushes. I’m not even going to try and deny it. They are the best! I cannot and will not stop talking about them. Have you tried any of these blushes? Are there any blushes you are obsessed with? Drop a comment and let’s get chatting. Thanks for hanging out with me here today, I love you guys and I’ll see you next time. x B

Definitely agree that these would be first in line for the museum. They’re so classic and beautiful. I’m yet to try anything from this brand, but I’m really tempted xx

The blushes are hands down the best ever! I have quite a few faves from this brand but I’ve also tried products that didn’t work for me, they can be a bit hit and miss
