Work Makeup Staples | Products that will save you Zzzs & Last all-day

I’m quite a flexible gal when it comes to what makeup products I love. From matte to glowy, sheer coverage to full – I’m all over the place. When I got a full-time job and began wearing makeup for work, I realized something – when you’re wearing makeup for a long day – flexibility isn’t an option. There are 2 categories what will last all day and what won’t. This particularly applies to the foundation.

I wake up at an ungodly hour and every millisecond of sleep is precious! This means I need long-wearing makeup products that are quick to apply and wearable. No ifs and or buts! So I’m going to give you the spiel on what products tick the box for the work makeup criteria.

Let’s go!

Mac skin finish natural setting powder

Sets the foundations really well (being that it’s pressed not loose it’s mess-free) and it also sets concealer nicely. I do prefer a loose powder for concealer but if I do set my concealer with a pressed powder, this is what I whip out.

Maybelline brow gel

My brow routine is VERY minimal. 98% of the time I just use brow gel and the Maybelline brow gel is awesome because the wand is huge and this gal with her giant brows doesn’t need an itty bitty brow wand in her life. Gives the brows a tint and holds them in place – what more could you ask for?!

Fenty Cream Bronzer ‘Butta Biscuit’

My cream bronzer collection is quite small (still probably too big for the normal makeup wearer) but this is easily one of my favorites. This shade is PERFECT for those with a fair skin tone. It isn’t too warm or cool but that neutral shade that suits the skin so well. It’s sheer but buildable and easy to use, you cannot stuff it up! This will be a forever repurchase for me!

Maybelline age rewind concealer

Every time I re-discover this concealer I think to myself – “why did I ever stop using it?” It’s hands down my favorite concealer from Maybelline. It covers really well, blends out easily, sits under the eyes so wear and with my ride or die Fenty setting powder, this concealer is locked in. I have several backups – can’t recommend it enough, it’s been a favorite for years!

L’Oreal Paris Infallible stay fresh foundation

This is the best drugstore foundation on the planet! Don’t even try to @ me! In fact, I prefer this bad boy over lots of high-end options as well and that says a lot. It applies super easily, looks like skin, and always sits nicely on the skin without looking cakey. It covers very well (medium coverage), a natural finish, super long-wearing and I can’t say that about many foundations in the context of a work-makeup day (my workdays are long, and makeup wise the strong stand out from the weak!)

Mac glow play blush – So natural

Raving about these cream blushes is basically my full-time job now. I cannot recommend these enough, even for those who aren’t into cream makeup/haven’t gotten into them yet. They are so easy to apply it literally doesn’t even feel like your applying a cream i.e. you don’t need to jump through a lot of hoops. This shade is super wearable and gives color to the skin without making you look super pink! I always layer a bit of powder blush over cream so I can’t speak on the longevity of these cream blushes individually but my blush always lasts all day with my technique!

Physician’s formula butter bronzer

I’ve been a fan of this guy for years. It is sheer but buildable and so easy to apply, you just can’t go wrong. It works perfectly on a fair skin tone and now it comes in 8 shades (so even those with a deeper skin toner can find one that works). It’s not matte but it isn’t sparkly either, you just get this subtle sheen to the skin which looks super pretty. One of the best bronzers on the market and very similar to the hourglass bronzer (which I also love).

Hourglass Mineral veil primer

My skin is more dehydrated/combo if we had to label it but I swear my nose alone accounts for 99% of the oils that come out of my skin. Regardless of my makeup routine, my nose will look oily 1 hour into makeup-wearing, I have surrendered to that fact. The only thing that has made a difference is this primer. The oils still occur but this primer definitely delays how shiny my t-zone gets and minimizes the oiliness of my nose. I definitely look fresher for longer and even with an affordable hydrating foundation, this primer can boost longevity. It is worth every cent!

Maybelline the falsies mascara

Maybelline makes the best drugstore mascaras ever! Period! This is one of their newest launches and has immediately shot up to the best one I’ve tried from them so far. It gives you dramatic lashes, boosts the thickness and length, and doesn’t smudge or flake on me. I usually prefer plastic wand mascaras but this one makes an exception!

Mac warm soul blush

Even though I am 10000% on the cream blush bandwagon y’all know I still layer a little bit of powder blush over the cream. What I love about this one, is the shade. If you want color on your cheeks but you don’t want to go in the pink or red department, this blush is perfect! It’s a rosey/brown shade that low-key makes your complexion look bronzed. It’s glowy, wearable, and just so stinkin’ pretty!

La Roche Posay tinted SPF 50

99% of the time if I am wearing makeup to work, I am wearing this! I mix it with moisturizer because it is too dark on me and quite difficult to blend out. It is super easy to mix in moisturizer and as soon as you do this glides over the skin and evens out the skin tone. Being SPF 50 your skin is covered and you have a nice base that looks supernatural. As this particular one is aimed for combo skin it’s quite long wearing even when I mix it with foundation. A perfect foundation substitute that also doubles as protection from that UV light! I’ve hooked all my workmates on this and they too literally don’t wear foundation anymore.

Makeup revolution ‘conceal & define’ concealer

This concealer is the easiest thing to blend ever! It literally blends in 2 seconds making it a perfect work day option because who has the time to blend? It covers well, sits nicely under the eyes (especially with my soul mate of a setting powder the Fenty Beauty Lavender powder). It’s also an absolute bargain and comes in a crazy number of shades!

Charlotte tilbury – pillow talk eye quad

My obsession for Charlotte Tilbury eye shadow quads is literally growing by the day. I use to be all about gigantic eye shadow palettes and now I prefer mini palettes and quads. A) Because it doesn’t overwhelm you with too many options B) they are more wearable and for work, I don’t go to H.A.M in the eye shadow department & of course C) these quads are freaking amazing! This particular shade is so wearable and pretty on the eyes!

Colour pop Lux Lip oil

I am the most basic BISH of all time in the lip department. Nude lipsticks and nude glosses are pretty much all I wear. I am who I am and I happily accept it because it means I can do more with eye shadow, don’t worry about reapplication because they fade naturally and nude lippies are just too addictive. These gems are super comfy, hydrating, and pretty. Even if you are only wearing mascara and this lip gloss – you look put together!

That wraps up this lengthy post! Did I mention any products you have tried? What were your thoughts? What makeup products are your go-to for a work makeup look? Drop a comment and let’s chat about it! As always, thank you for taking the time to read this post, I love you guys and I will see you next time. x B

I love CT Pillow Talk Quad for the same reason, it’s simple, it’s chic and elegant and it does not overwhelm me with choices, therefore whatever I do with it I will always look nice :p it’s a great product indeed, makes me want to try other CT quads..

Exactly! Sometimes I geuninely want that effortless makeup look but it’s easy to take it too far with other palettes.

The Fenty Bronzer and Mac Glow Play Blush are staples in my collection. I love them a lot! I’ve been hearing so many positive things about the Maybelline concealer but I’ve never tried it before. Definitely buying it once I’m through my concealer pile (I feel like I’m exposing myself in every comment in place here talking about all my backup piles hahaha).

How good are they! So user friendly and unique! I have loved that concealer since I first got into makeup – it’s been a 7 year + love affair haha. Oh girl with the size of my makeup collection, I make other beauty lovers look like they have their obsession under control.
