Mac glow play blushes

Mac Glow Play Blushes | The Perfect start for anyone who wants to try a cream blush

I’m not the pushy kind when it comes to makeup recommendations. I always think about what you like and do your makeup how you want to do it. There are no rules in this industry, or rules that can’t be broken at least. Today’s review is an exception because whether you hate cream makeup, love it, or anywhere in between if you haven’t tried one of these blushes. You need to stop right now and add it to your wish list!

I’m going to dive straight in before you guys lose concentration and click out of this post.

Here we go!

What are the claims of this product?

It’s an ultra-smooth cushiony blush that gives you a radiant finish. It can be applied with fingers or a brush and gives you sheer to medium “coverage”.  It also promises to be non-acne-genic and dermatologically tested.

Do the claims deliver?

Yes! These blushes have the most unique formula I’ve ever come across – they’re definitely not your typical cream blush formula. It has a Mousse/bouncy balm texture, that feels almost like a powder even though it’s actually cream. Think of the Colour pop super shock blushes but better! They are glowy but not to the point where your cheeks are disco balls!

Formula / Pigmentation / Longevity?

The formula is a cream to powder texture but doesn’t look powder on the skin or feel like a powder. They are sheer but buildable – swatches don’t do them justice but they are goof-proof and you can wear them sheer or keep building them up. The bolder shades will also give you an instant hit of pigment. Longevity-wise – I layer all cream blushes with a little bit of powder blush which always increases longevity. Unless you build these blushes up for a strong cheek I do think on their own they wouldn’t be super long-wearing but still pretty good.

Glowy but still subtle and pretty on the cheeks – no shimmer or glitter

Easy to use /How does it apply?

They apply so freaking easy! I prefer to apply them directly with a brush (where usually with the cream blush I use my finger to place it on my cheeks then blend with a brush). They apply like powder blush, super quick to blend and because they are sheer but buildable you don’t have to worry about smacking on too much product. To all of you who are put off by cream blush due to application – YOU NEED TO TRY THESE OUT!

Shade range?

There is a total of 11 shades, both subtle and bright options – I have 4 and I love them all!

Shade ‘Grand’

Rounded plastic compact with a clear window so you can see the shade on the inside.

How much does it cost?

$48 AUD

How much product do you get?

7.3 g per blush

Where to purchase it?

Mac Cosmetics, Myer, Mecca, Adore Beauty

10/10 – I cannot fault these blushes. If you find they aren’t long-wearing enough try layering with a little bit of powder blush. I do this with all cream blushes and I find that my blush lasts all day regardless of what cream blush I’m using.

Who might not like this?

If you want instant intense pigment or if you have extremely oily skin – perhaps these blushes won’t be for you.

Overall thoughts?

I’m obsessed with these blushes! They are so easy to apply, sheer but buildable – you literally cannot mess it up. There aren’t any other blushes that compare to these and these ones are in my top 3 favorite blushes of all time! I cannot say enough good things about them.

Would I recommend this to you / repurchase

I cannot recommend them enough and these are cream blushes I would definitely repurchase!

That wraps up this post! I don’t make it a habit to rave endlessly about a product unless it’s WORTH IT. After all, there’s lots of pretty makeup out there so when something stands out and dazzles – I need to tell you guys about it, otherwise what the hell is the point of this blog?! Have you guys tried these blushes? What cream blushes have you been loving, drop a comment, and let’s have a chat! I love you guys and I’ll see you all next time.
