Hello there you beautiful humans! Nearing the end of last year I ordered a lot of new makeup & shipping delays had them trickling into early January as well. Lucky for you guys this means I have an ENORMOUS amount of new makeup to try out and I’ve been slowly testing it out to give you guys my first impressions.
I’m going to need to break this post into 2 possibly 3 parts …. Keep in mind all these new products were Pre-low buy.
So let’s get started.
This foundation is very hydrating, easy to apply, and blends out nicely. I’d say it’s about a medium coverage foundation – as in you won’t build it up to full coverage – the medium is all you will get. It lasts quite nicely throughout the day though if you have an oily t-zone you will get shiny. The foundation has a satin finish, you aren’t hit with an intense glow right away but it does make the skin look juicy and my t-zone brings glow regardless!
For a matte concealer, this sat under my eyes so well! Minimal creasing and it didn’t look dry or crusty. It covers so well and definitely made it into my favorites! I’ve even picked up a few backups because when discovering affordable concealers that have good coverage and pack a punch – I’m hooked!
Less coverage compared to no filter but still decent for dark circles; much more hydrating and a little “dewy”.
The shimmer end has a thin paint-like brush while the ‘matte side’ has a doe-foot applicator. The matte side is more opaque and pigmented while the shimmers are a little sheerer but can be built up. The shimmers are very glowy and give that wet look on the eyes and give them a pop. I do like layering a shimmery powder shadow over the liquid shimmers for that pop. The matte side is more difficult to blend, I need to keep practicing. I do prefer my liquid shadows to be shimmery and on the eyelid but I have been experimenting with how to use the matte shades. They can be used as an eyeshadow primer (most shades would work as a base for your lids) I apply it directly on the lid and blend/stamp it out with the Zoeva concealer brush that works wonders. The very dark matte shades could be used as a liquid liner (for a softer look) – this is something I need to keep practicing as I am not used to drawing on my eyeliner with a brush, I usually use a traditional eyeliner pen.
The first day I tried this foundation – it was extremely watery (like I’m talking it should have had a dropper applicator) but the second time I used it, it thickened up better and wasn’t too messy to pump out. With just one layer of foundation, my skin looked flawless but not over-done or cakey. Basically, my skin looked photo-shopped! It was also so easy to blend out, a good option for an everyday foundation – usually watery foundations stress me out because I do prefer foundation brushes usually, and as you know watery foundations can easily cause brush strokes if you aren’t careful. This foundation didn’t do that. The foundation lasted really well throughout the day! I wore it for a good 10 hours and it held up so well when so many other foundations don’t do that! I cannot recommend it enough. I am so impressed with this foundation, it is so light-weight yet you don’t need a lot of product to get your skin covered nicely. It looks fresh, your skin looks healthy and hydrated and it sits on the skin SO WELL. It doesn’t even bunch up on my forehead which most foundations do! It looks like a second skin and literally gives you that airbrushed effect but it also looks natural. I haven’t been blown away by a foundation like this for a while!
Very pigmented! Super shiny, pigmented, and creamy! I wish the shade range was better because I was super impressed with the formula and none of the other shades really appeal for me aside from the two shades I have!
Very pigmented, the sparkly shades are very pigmented and sparkly but this palette does have fall out so doing your eye makeup first is wise! The palette is so tiny so it’s perfect for travel!
Hydrating, easily to blend out, coverage was a little bit underwhelming (but the discoloration under my eyes is bad) so for most of you guys, the coverage will probably be nice. It sat under the eyes very nicely!
Both sides of these eye glistens are shimmery which I love. One is a more metallic finish while the other is glittery. They are similar to the Huda ones but they aren’t super opaque in pigment. I don’t mind this because I always layer a shimmer powder shadow over the cream/liquid. This is definitely super pretty to layer underneath a powder eyeshadow. The applicators are doe foot on both ends so I usually use my finger to apply it!
Very easy to apply, thin but it covered well. I did have to use some darkening drops but the ratio of darkening drops to the actual foundation is minimal. It sits on the skin so well and didn’t bunch or cake up (not even on my forehead which is rare). You guys know I don’t play when it comes to testing out how foundation sits on the face! I was nervous this foundation would be a flop but I’m very impressed by it. A foundation looking smooth on my skin and not exaggerating texture is a must for me and this does it.
Sheer but buildable gives a sheen to the skin but doesn’t look sparkly. I’m an instant fan because I am super picky with bronzer. I need a sheer but buildable formula and this hits the mark without giving me a super matte finish. The shade also works well on my fair skin!
Glowy and pretty on the skin, easy to apply – didn’t look so intense that it would be unwearable for the day time.
A creamy formula but very sparkly. This highlighter would be ideal on a cloudy day or at night, you just don’t want sunlight hitting your face when you wear this. It’s too sparkly for me so it isn’t my favorite.
This product separates into 3 layers so you need to give it a good shake and drop it onto your face straight away. When you do this the product feels like a lightweight serum and it sinks into the skin quite quickly. If you shake the product, wait about 20-30 seconds then drop the product onto your face, it feels oilier. This is because the oils sink to the bottom quite quickly. You could use this as a skincare product (the last step in your routine) or as a primer or both in my case. When you apply it correctly, it’s so light-weight and gives the skin a boost of nourishment and glow.
Wasn’t a fan of using this for concealer as a damp beauty blender is my ride or die. I will be trying to pair this with the normal size velvet sponge when applying foundation. Because my biggest issue with the velvet sponge (though I love it) is the fact the shape doesn’t allow you to get into the nooks and crannies of your face, so I will try and use the mini one to get into those areas!
Include an SPF 15, they are so creamy like butter and pack a lot of pigment. Because the formula is very buttery and creamy it can be a little messy to apply so just watch out for that
Before this setting spray, I hadn’t found anything aside from urban decay all-nighter that kept my makeup locked in. This one knocks the latter out of the park! With this bad boy, your makeup is budge-proof, mask proof, sweat proof and will last ALL DAY LONG! I don’t know what magic is in this bottle but it works!
Creamy, instead of a balm texture like most cream blushes are, this is literally a liquid whipped formula. They swatch very pigmented but you do need to build them up on the eye a bit.
The formula is creamy like butter and so comfy on the lips. The pigmentation is intense but it’s quite easy to apply and wears nicely.
The formula is quite thin and spreads around easily, it covers well but I can’t seem to get it to sit on my skin nicely. I just noticed the texture way more with this foundation.I need to see if I can find a primer that is more smoothing, try it with a pore filler. I am used to some texture being apparent but with a lot of my favorite foundations, they sit on my skin smoothly and almost look like a filter. This foundation makes my face look WAY more textured than it actually is..
The formula is very creamy, the bronzer is quite pigmented so a little goes a long way but it’s super blendable and wasn’t a tricky bronzer to apply. The highlighter is on the subtle side but you guys know I love to layer cream highlighter with a powder highlighter. The blush is also a gorgeous color, not too bland but not overly bright and difficult to use. It’s a dusty pink shade.
It’s intensely peach which I love and has a subtle shimmer throughout it. It’s a very liquidy hydrating texture and sits nicely under concealer. I do prefer the corrector concentrate as it’s a balm formula and I find it just covers better and doesn’t bleed into the concealer as much. It didn’t wow me – I prefer the Pixi corrector concentrate way more!
Very dewy! Gives the skin a very glowy finish but it doesn’t contain any shimmery, it’s just a clear liquid. It gives the skin a slip so the foundation glides right over the top, doesn’t really give hydration just a very slippery finish. It doesn’t cause the foundation to go weird or break apart.
It has a watery formula (as expected) but blends quite easily. You get 50 ml of product (nearly twice as much as a normal foundation amount one gets). It also has quite a glowy finish and sits on the skin quite nicely and actually looks like skin!
Mecca max eyeshadow quad
Pigmented, easy to blend, this quad is very small, the size of a charlotte tilbury quad but light-weight so it’s very travel friendly. You can soften the eye look or do a soft-glam, it’s very wearable and it gives you a lovely eye look
I’m actually so impressed! I am all about the beauty blender life but I only use it for concealer and to further blend foundation after applying it with a brush because I find it absorbs so much product that it takes me 10x longer to apply foundation and a lot more product. The XO beauty sponge is much denser and you do need to run it under the tap and get it very wet (while the BB I just spritz it so it’s damp) but it blended the foundation so well and didn’t absorb a shocking amount of product! I’m very impressed! I even tried it for the first time with Mac face and body which is super runny and it didn’t absorb it instantly and make me use a lot of product. I’m seriously loving this sponge – I didn’t think anything could compare/make me want to move away from the beauty blender but we have a strong contender right here.
That wraps up this insanely long post! If you made it the whole way through, you’re a legend! Have you tried any of the products mentioned in today’s post? What were your thoughts? What makeup have you tried lately? Drop a comment and let’s have a chat. I hope you all have an awesome day and I’ll see you guys in the next post.
