Nyx Setting Sprays | These deserve a lot more hype than they are currently getting

Hello there you beautiful things, you. I need to talk to you about a setting spray (or sprays) that I’ve been using for ages but haven’t talked about much. I’ve combined both in the same post because there really is no need to discuss them separately, I like to be a one-stop shop over here.

So let’s cut the chit chat short and get straight into it!

What are the claims of this product?

Both setting sprays promise to keep your makeup fresh all day long. The matte-formula promises to keep the shine away while the dewy promises to give your skin a glow. The product also promises to be lightweight and comfortable on the skin!

Do they deliver?

I do find my make does stay fresher for longer but by no means does it give you bullet-proof wear time. That’s not necessarily a fault of the product, I’ve only tried 2 settings sprays ever that have ensured my makeup will last all day. Both these setting sprays settle the powdery look and provide some extra hydration to the skin. I do lean more towards the dewy setting spray. You definitely don’t feel this product on your skin, you don’t feel greasy, sticky or tight.

Finish?

The name of each setting spray will indicate the “finish”. I will say the dewy setting spray doesn’t’ include any glitter or shimmer it just juices up the skin and leaves your complexion looking fresh. The same goes with the matte foundation – it doesn’t cause your skin to look flat it just doesn’t add any glow to your face.

Even and fine mist?

YES! Something that’s a deal-breaker for me because if I wanted my face drenched and my makeup wrecked I’d grab a hose and drench my face that way. These settings sprays are extremely fine misted and cause no mess whatsoever! Even if I spray them after applying mascara (which depending on what mascara you use can change – so watch out).

Packaging?

Small plastic bottles with a spray applicator.

How much does it cost?

$14.95 AUD (not as affordable considering how much product you get).

How much product do you get?

You only get 60 ml per bottle which truly annoys me. I do wish they also came out with a super-size from both because that’s a lot of repurchasing involved since setting sprays are quite easy to pan.

Where to purchase it?

Priceline – Dewy / Matte

Rating?

4/5

Pros?
  • Fine misted, mess-free, don’t have a weird scent to them, settles the powdery look and the dewy spray gives some juice to the skin, affordable, small bottle makes it perfect for the makeup bag
Cons?
  • You only get 60 ml which if you plan to repurchase means you’ll go through lots of bottles. They should have a super-size option.
Overall thoughts?

These setting sprays are so underrated – they deserve a lot more hype because they are awesome. They just do the job and do it well and are such a fuss-free option. It isn’t always easy finding affordable setting sprays that don’t mess with your foundation and don’t have a weird smell to them. These get two thumbs up from me!

Would I recommend this to you / repurchase

I have already repurchased the dewy setting spray and will be repurchasing them in the future!

That wraps up this review! Have you tried much from Nyx cosmetics or these setting sprays in particular? What affordable setting sprays have you been loving? Drop a comment and let’s have a chat. As always I love you guys and I’ll see you in the next blog post. x B

Matte setting sprays don’t necessarily mattify the skin they just don’t add extra glow
